BG2 and I are taking a week's vacation this year around the Mohegan show on June 17.

We will be flying into Providence on Tuesday and wanted to visit some of the lighthouses along the East Coast. Anyone have a " must see " list . . . ? ?

We're also looking to stay one night at a bed-and-breakfast type inn somewhere near the coast . . .

any suggestions. . from the locals. . .? ?

thanks in advance. .

I'm ashamed to admit that this is the only one I've visited:

It's really cool, though. York Beach is right nearby and a quaint little area. You also have to drive right by the Maine Outlets to get there.

Soooooo am I gonna get to meet you girls while you're cruisin' around in my neck of the woods? Since I'm not going to Mohegan or anything....sniff...sniff

This one's right around the corner from our house on The Vineyard. It's one of my favorites.

If you're going to see Mac on Long Island, you can add Montauk Lighthouse to the list. It's at the tip of Long Island's south fork, about 15 minutes from Amagansett.

How far up and down the coast do you want to go? Maine has very cool lighthouses, but it's a bit of a haul (the NH/Maine border is about 3 1/2 hours from Providence, depending on time of day and traffic around Boston). That being said, Camden, ME is wonderful; great B&B's.

Cape Neddick Lighthouse, also known as Nubble Lighthouse, York Beach Maine
Every year, I think July 4th and Thanksgiving they have an annual lighting where they put up and light up all the Christmas lights on the island, it's pretty cool. If you call the York Beach Chamber of Commerce I'm sure they will be able to tell you more about it.

OMG BG!!!!!!!!!!!! I literally just finished updating my lighthouse album for my cousins in NY & FL, haven't even sent it to them yet LOL, and here you are asking about something I've got!!! Anyway, I'll send you an invitation to view it. We went to visit some lighthouses when we went to Mohegan and Foxwoods a few weeks ago. I have driving directions to them. We stayed in Mystic Seaport, so we got 2 there I think there was maybe 3 or 4 we could have gotten close by, but anyway. I have to check my notebook and I can probably mail you the stuff I have. I have stuff (directions to lighthouse in MA, NH, ME, CT, & RI I believe. Well, I'll go get it and see what I've got. Give me a few minutes.

Don't even get me started on NE lighthouses. The avatar is Pemaquid Point, in Maine if you want to drive, my mom's all-time favorite lighthouse. This past mother's day I changed One Particluar Harbor on her card to One Particular Lighthouse. She really liked it :D .
2 good lobster places nearby, Shaw's and a local co-op (best steamers ever!!!). The ocean's good for kayaking if you're into it, lot of little islands to explore. Current and waves are pretty much non-existant.

Another good lighthouse is Bass Harbor Lighthouse in Acadia Nat'l Park aways up.

If you want to see Maine tell me, I'll hook you up 8). I guarantee you'll have a blast! 8) :D :P :pirate:
