Spiders eat other bugs...including other bugs that bite you. I don't care for them in the house, but sometimes I escort them outside...other times they are hit whatever I can find first to squash them with.... HOWEVER I have seen spiders so big I was afraid to try to squash ....I was afraid I might make them mad! I got my shotgun out and chambered a round the spider was gone good thing for the house and furniture) also depends on the type of spider......brown recluse ( and other recluse spiders) and black widows are definitely toast. They automatically get a one way ticket to spider heaven or wherever spiders go to in the great beyond.
I know that I have and seen others find tarantulas in the desert in Arizona and not on purpose....digging a hole and and you toss out a clod of dirt and this roundish ball of dirt starts moving and the next thing you see is a tarantula coming out of it. They hibernate or something.
Okies how do you feel about scorpions or centipedes? A scorpion sting will DEFINITELY get your attention......I know from first hand experience.
Never had or wanted to experience a centipede sting/ bite

A few spiders in your house is a good thing (not the poisonous kinds). They eat the bugs that you should really care about.
You kill all the spiders and you will have MORE bugs in your house.

For me, it's mostly an inside dead / outside alive thing... but there are exceptions.
Those teeny little fast jumpy spiders usually get a stay of execution... and I don't think I've ever harmed a "daddy long leg"... the big juicy ones here in IL aren't anything close to some others mentioned in this thread, and I would definitely run and hide from them!
As a kid, we used to "play" with what we called "banana spiders" (we would have races and stuff)... big, black with yellow stripes... probably haven't seen one in 25 years - don't think I'd play with them now!
I do enjoy seeing a big spiderweb outside - simply an amazing natural artform if ya ask me!!

I prefer the anoles ( lizards ) we have to spiders. They do a good job on bugs too! When I bring the plants in for the winter, at least one or two come in with them. The anoles (lizards) are fun to watch at times and are competely harmless.NYCPORT wrote:A few spiders in your house is a good thing (not the poisonous kinds). I have seen it numerous times all spiders are venomous......I have heard it said only certain species are venomous......but "most" species of spiders fangs cannot penetrate human skin, such as the "Daddy Long Legs" that has most toxic venom but cannot bite humans and is harmess to them.
Here is another bug for you....Assassin Bugs Numerous varieties of them to........

If I see that Geico Gecko one more time........... though I do prefer the Gecko over the Geico Geek.
The anoles (lizards) here are free................Geckos cost money here. Did you know geckos can climb glass??

"Tony" is my son. He's only 15 months and doesn't know that spiders aren't food yet. He thinks they are crawling cereal.
ROTFL...yeah when Alex as about that age (6 months ago) it was still too cold for most bugs, but i've seen him eyeing ants, and i can just hear his brain...hummm, moving raisins, Yummy...

Mine too!!! And if one is on the ceiling or where he can't get it, he sits and stares at it and barks to alert me of it's presence. He gets treats for this, of course, so he now gives every room a spider scan when he gets there!CUparrot wrote:

My dog usually kills them and spits them out....I guess they must taste bad (maybe BB's son can give us his opinions on that). One time she came up to me with these big legs hanging out of her mouth....gross.CRC Parrothead wrote:I usually show the spider to my dog who tries to play with it and usually ends up killing it even though he tries to be gentle and just bat it around.
