My new car got totaled.....

Please, someone....cheer me up.... offer some advice.... something!!!
I was on my way home from work on Monday and it was raining. I was
sitting, about the 3rd car back from the stop light waiting for it to turn
green. Suddenly I hear screaching tires - I look over and see in the
oncoming lane next to me a Suburban "spinning" towards me. I couldn't
do anything but watch since I was surrounded by cars front/side and back.
She hit me in the front drivers side, which caused her to spin, then
slam into me sideways pushing me into the lane next to me
into another car. And she also hit the car behind me....
I just got my 2005 Ford Escape in February...I had just made my 2nd payment...
I'm okay, and so was everyone else... It's just such a pain in the A$$
to buy a new car!!! Now all the salesmen are telling me that my car
was apparently sooooooo
unique (it was a basic model with cruise control

)
...that they aren't able to find one like it... It's gonna cost more....

Calgon take me away!!!!!!!

You're okay, and that's important. That at least should make you feel better:) That and at least it wasn't you're fault at all.

That sucks.....I love my Ford Escape and would be very sad if it got totaled......
Just glad that YOU weren't totaled with it......it's a pain in the a$$ and it's expensive....but still, could have been a lot worse.
Hope it works out for you......

BS!!!!!!! If they want the business they will find you a new one for the same price, they are trying to stick you because they think they can since you need a car, basically say get it for the same price or everyone I know will end doing business here.

Yikes... that blows. But at least it's totalled and you should be able to recover the entire value of the car. I don't have much to suggest other than go for a Toyota Highlander next time!

First, really, really glad you're ok. That could have been bad.
Now the car advice...
go to Autotrader.com. Do a nationwide search for the exact car you want (use the advanced search feature.) Print out the one with the lowest price. You can find some very good quotes there.
THEN... take the printout in to your dealer and ask them to beat the price on that car, OR... you're going on a roadtrip to buy it.
I've done this several times now, and it's remarkable how much better the deals get. Of course, if they don't play ball, you needed a good roadtrip anyway!
Good luck.

I'm glad that they totaled it.... If I wanted a refurbished car, I would
have purchased one in February!!!
I loved my Escape, and am going for another one...
I was just telling my Mom how safe I felt in it!

Thanks for the info. I'll check into that, and with all this stress, a
good road trip could do nothin' but good.

OMG, I'm so glad you are okay, dear friend. I know how scary that must have been and how P.O.'d you are....but your car is replaceable, you most definitely are not.
Take your time trying to find a new car. That lady's insurance company can pay for your rental for as long as you need it.
You've always been there for me when I've needed you...now it's my turn. Whatever you need, g/f...whether it's a shoulder to cry on or an ear to b*tch to, you've got it.
Hang in there....love ya lots.

I always try to pimp out Toyota's because my brother is a design engineer at the Ann Arbor headquarters.
But what krusin suggested is good... Autotrader is a great place to shop for cars. The dealership that I bought my car for listed it $2000 less than they were on the lot.

if you use autotrader be sure to use a good anti spyware program and run it after every visit there - I got a lot of spyware crap there when I was looking for my van.
