This sounds really awsome. Pardon me for not knowing, but where is Red Rocks? I'm from the Cleveland area and am not sure where that is. I'd be in!
Red Rocks is the largest natural amphitheatre in the country. It's located in lovely Morrison, CO. It's about 20 minutes west of Denver.

It is simply GORGEOUS!!!!
Sounds like an ideal place! I love it out west - must be beautiful!
Oh it is!!! I grew up just about 5 minutes from Red Rocks. It's breathtaking!

My high-school graduation ceremony was held there as well...and I've also seen many concerts there.

If you've ever seen the U2 video for Sunday Bloody Sunday, that was filmed there.

And a heck of a long way from those of us in the northeastern U.S./eastern Canada!

What about somewhere near Chicago? I know there are two shows upcoming at Wrigley, but Chicago seems (more or less) centrally located, is a major air hub, and has plenty of space for the phlock.

(I have no vested interest in Chicago, by the way -- it's about a ten hour drive from me.)

Denver. Easily reached by Continental and its codeshare partners.
jetBlue as well
Not sure if it is a hub for anyone other than Frontier tho. PHX is America West, SLC is Delta, DFW is AA and United, with MSP, STL and ORD being hubbed for the midwest, there isn't a real need for a major carrier hub until you get to the coast again.

Matt, I think the costs that kill ya are in the section after that - renter is responsible for insurance policy ($1,000,000), damage deposit, cost of all labor (union stage hands, security, police, fire and ambulence, ushers, etc).

Plus with a reserved capacty of 8694, you're looking at $115 a piece for a $1,000,000 show... (I think it would cost you more than that)

I just think y'all may need a bigger venue to make it cost effective... or cozy up with some uber-rich folks. :)

Denver is a United hub also.

I used to commute to/from St. Louis, but it ceased to be a hub shortly after American purcheased TWA.

Ok Lee has started me thinking..

Really 10,000? there are (at last count) 8900 or thereabouts of US.
OK now a WAG or three there are at least 500 of those pholks
that are double  I myself found out I had another name
I had signed up with (prior to my owning a CPU)
two there are probably 1000 of that number that haven't even checked in in atleast a year.
now that leaves us with 7400 lets be real.. if we make the show in July/
Early August (more on that later) how many of us are going to have to bow out
due to time/money/ not really wanting to be seen with BN/other reasons
really about 5000 of us can be lost right there
soooo 2400 of us (and a friend or two) (more on that later too)
are going to fill a 10,000 seat venue???

Ok point two really
MY Guess is that even this year would be difficult to arrange
unless you just want Jimmy, lining up a venue alone is going to take
some lead time and again on a saturday most places we would really
want/(and can afford) are booked up
also the Coral Reefers do their own thing when not on Tour with Jimmy
and as has been brought up prior Peter and Mac are doing some
shows this summer which makes the Dates Available just that much
more fun also after some point in the year Outdoors really isn't that great of an idea..

OK last and not in anyway least.. Tickets..
How many each?? I know we all (well most) have a S/O
or a Road Parrot we all bring. BUT this is not a show (and the temptation is going to be huge) to bring a non-believer or someone who you want to convert. really Leave the neighbors,friends,co-workers home
so how many tix each??

Before you flame me I REALLY want this to happen but we have a few
things we need to work out
also one more point if we mess this up we have done a one shot thing :x and perhaps blown it for others
If we do it right we can do this as long as Jimmy stays on the Road
:D :D 8)

You have extremely valid points ragtop, and I agree with most of them. I really think we need to wait until we hear from HK until all this starts panning out and we really figure out what we need to do. It's gonna be a lot of work, but we can make it happen.

Here's my take :P

This was a typical BN conversation that started out simple and took off like a rocket :-)

It goes without saying that there are NUMEROUS details that need to be looked at and dealt with.

The answers (or more questions) we get from HK Management is really going to tell us whether or not this is even a feasible undertaking.

Approval, permission and participation (?) of PHJim for us billing this as a BN event is also a number one detail.

However, until we have those answers IMHO there is nothing wrong with freeform idea dumping and dreaming :D

It also goes without saying that there are NUMEROUS registered users here with the appropriate connections, the appropriate backgrounds and experience to cover all of the bases that need to be covered. Hell - we might even discover (when we get HK/JB/PHJim approval :D ) that this may not be feasible at all. But then again - it just might be.

No matter what the outcome...............it just goes to show what a little teamwork can accomplish :D :D

OK, Was not sure. United has a lot of hubs out that way.. must be a leftover from when they were Boeing's inhouse airline.

As an aside, I will be going into STL in July for a ballgame. How is the lightrail for commuting between the field and downtown?

It can happen, but I can't see it happening this year. I think we are realistically looking at next spring! Maybe sooner, but the weather will have to be factored in!

just to throw this out . . as it might be an issue to take to the HK meeting . .

what if we all voted to limit it to just Jimmy and , as he calls them, the Beach Band . . Robert G. and Ralph . .

? ?

that way we eliminate the scheduling problems for the entire CRB . .

if anyone has heard the East Hampton show from 2001 . .the sound, the mood , and the effect is remarkable . .

just a little pre-Monday thought . .

? ?

:)
