I had a thought in all this. Remmber this list:

http://origin-www.thesmokinggun.com/backstagetour

It is a fifteen page document of the specifics Bubba wants to have at his show backstage, onsteage, before and after a performance.

So, question is:

Would we be responsible for that or the venu?
Venue is responsible...I'm almost positive, could be wrong
Promoter is responsible... they often pass the responsibility on to the production manager at the venue, who passes it off to someone else... but if you're renting the venue you might want to start shopping now.

Again, I haven't read through the thread so maybe this has been asked too...
I think te idea of it isnt being so intimate, but the idea of us beating the system and literally making history. What fanbase has booked their own artist before? Think about it, no ticketmaster, no scalpers, and personal invites to the people who want to see him most.
Exactly my point. Well stated NYPH

Why I believe our own PHat Matt pulled this off a couple of months ago, when he booked Peter Mayer. :D

8) :D 8) way to go pholks!
This could be a good idea, but there are a lot of details to work out. Let's not get too big; then it would be like any other concert.

Nope. That would be you guys. HK is the manager. Whomever is putting on the show is the promoter.

no the promoter (buffettnews.com) is responsible, and if it helps I will buy PHJim's plane tickets if someone else offers to buy his hotel room and one other person picks up his tickets, make it very worth while for him

I was afraid it would be us, cuz that list could be quite costly.

I don't recall seeing Jim say anything about wanting to be the promoter or havin Buffettnews.com be involved in any official capacity... I think its you guys as a group of Buffett fans.

I certainly wouldn't go in there and tell HK you're BuffettNews.com - that wouldn't be fair to Jim.

what Lee said....

and I don't think I ever saw an answer to my earlier question:
SchoolGirlHeart wrote:um, one sorta kinda very important point....... none of us own or pay the bills for buffettnews.com..... before anyone starts calling this possible event a BN event, I think phjim gets to say...... did anyone ask? :o :o

wLs. Though my experience is with a much smaller show, the fundamentals I imagine are the same.

The promoter (as of now the people reading this thread collectivly) is responsible for EVERYTHING except for 2 things...We dont play the music, and we dont own the venue. Outside of that we do it all, we make sure JB and the band have a place to stay, have food to eat, have a place to play, have money, etc...
So keeping that in mind, we would have the Buffett show just phor BN..However, there would be 1 or a select few BNers who will be in close contact with the venue and HK for the next several months as we go through the process of getting the show organized. Also, people would have to get the provisions spelled out in the rider taken care of, ticketing taken care of, and all the legal mumbo-jumbo. Before any of that though, we need 1 specific BN member who will be the signatory and sign the contract with HK phor the show (same with the venue).

So in short, some people will have to do a lot of work over the next several months on BN's behalf. Being private, promotion isnt needed, however there is a LOT of work to be done in assuring that the rider is met and everything the venue demands is met.
