If I hadn't met him several times, there's no way in HELL I'd believe he's not an adult..... And I'm still not positive he's not just a really small adult posing as a kid....Key Lime Lee wrote:Are you sure you're not, like, 45 years old??PHat Matt wrote: wLs. The promoter (as of now the people reading this thread collectivly) is responsible for EVERYTHING except for 2 things...We dont play the music, and we dont own the venue. Outside of that we do it all, we make sure JB and the band have a place to stay, have food to eat, have a place to play, have money, etc...

(this venue is similar in size to Nashville...on the bottom, and then half again as big in the balcony..the stage is about 1.5 times as big)

Just a quick update. I did a bit of research last evening and found out that HK no longer exists -- bought out by Front Line Management in late-Jan. http://www.stblaw.com/printFriendly.cfm ... ocusID=281 (Yes, Midnight Flyer has the update, address, etc.)
My bet is that the key people from HK were part of the deal as relationships are critical to sustaining business like this. Therefore, I've been trying to identify who in HK has worked with Jimmy. I know there was a mention a while back in some post, article, whatever that mentioned 1 or 2 HK people, but I can't remember where I saw it...any help?? It would be great if Midnight F had a name or two to ask for when he calls and/or walks in the door vs. just going in and saying "will JB do a show for us?"
To me the key in the approach is: 1) finding out who books JB's private shows, 2) tossing out the concept, 3) saying we want to work with Front Line directly (it will be interesting if they'll go for that as it may complicate things for them), and then asking them 4) "How can work together to make this happen?" If we give Front Line (and Jimmy) the opportunity to have some input and collaborate, it could be a much more cooperative vs. transactional process which might help with pricing, venue selection, flexibility, etc.
I think the #1 issue will be convincing Front Line that this idea is truly viable -- that it's more than just a dream. Bottom line, "show me the money". E.g., if total cost is $1 Million (Buffett, venue, etc.) where are we going to get the x% upfront (50%?) to demonstrate not just the interest, but the ability to make this happen. Do we go to Corona and ask them to "float us a loan" in exchange for 500 (?) randomly assigned tickets in pairs? Do we get 100 parrotheads to pitch in $5,000 a piece (pretty big personal risk)? I don't have an immediate answer on this (there are several different options), but this will be a huge hurdle that will come up very quickly. (Again, a good collaborative question for Front Line -- "If you were in our shoes, how might you go about this?")
Although this is full of obstacles, it's great to see the enthusiasm, ingenuity, and early commitment for making this happen.
Someday we will...

They will probibly be open to the idea. My guess is we will get a contract to "fill in the blanks", with a rider annexed, and then be responsible that everything is taken care of. Monitarily there will probibly be at least 2 deposits between now and date of the show, each one worth a large portion of $$$. We will need a venue before anything with JB is signed.Quiet and Shy wrote:I think the #1 issue will be convincing Front Line that this idea is truly viable -- that it's more than just a dream. Monitarily we can ethier look for corprate donations in return for tickets, or pass around a hat and everyone throw their money in. It will be a big hat, but I guess we find out how big on Monday.
