E.g., if total cost is $1 Million (Buffett, venue, etc.) where are we going to get the x% upfront (50%?) to demonstrate not just the interest, but the ability to make this happen. Do we go to Corona and ask them to "float us a loan" in exchange for 500 (?) randomly assigned tickets in pairs? Do we get 100 parrotheads to pitch in $5,000 a piece (pretty big personal risk)? I don't have an immediate answer on this (there are several different options), but this will be a huge hurdle that will come up very quickly. (Again, a good collaborative question for Front Line -- "If you were in our shoes, how might you go about this?")
They will probibly be open to the idea. My guess is we will get a contract to "fill in the blanks", with a rider annexed, and then be responsible that everything is taken care of. Monitarily there will probibly be at least 2 deposits between now and date of the show, each one worth a large portion of $$$. We will need a venue before anything with JB is signed.
Monitarily we can ethier look for corprate donations in return for tickets, or pass around a hat and everyone throw their money in. It will be a big hat, but I guess we find out how big on Monday.
As you say, these aspects will all be part of it, but to get Front Line to take this seriously, we will need to demonstrate that it is worth their time...that we can produce the $$s.

If you want to cut off members who haven't visited in a year that's okay with me. If you offered each member 2 tickets and set up a "drop dead" date, you could then reoffer remaining tickets to members who have already purchased tickets.

Then, after all the seats have been sold you hold the seating lottery.

what I was meaning was either those people either

Matt - you've been doing such a great job! I haven't met you yet, but I'll take Jen's word that you're not really an adult!

I almost said 'grown up', but none of us here are that, right? :D

Maybe those folks who are interested could forward their names to a moderator (or other volunteer) who could then name a formal committee (maybe with a separate account, to avoid confusion in "official" communications with the rest of us)?
first, please let me say that 100% of the credit should go to you for your " Rock the BN World " idea . . ! !

and the unoffical list of people to get the ball rollin were just a few BN'ers that started gabbin about the possibility of it happening . . I would love to be part of the " official " committee , when it is formed , but I certainly understand I have only one BN vote in that . .

TikiBar is a moderator and was part of the initial discussion . . and believe me, she would have put a MAJOR HALT to anything that did not comply to correct protocol . . .

other than that, it will be a great and phun journey to see . . not IF , but WHEN . . this will happen . . ! !

thanks, my friend. . .you have made BN history . . ! !

Lots of talk about who was there in the beginning. It seems I was and asked to be involved but went ignored. Then there is mentionof no committe but a group of people organizing. Sounds like a committee to me. At this point in the thread it is futile to point out the way I was excluded but if you go back to page 2, you will see how I was quoted, yoiu will see how one guy said the exact same thing as i did after quoting me and how my input and interest to be involved was ignored...outrite. Again, I haven't read through the thread so maybe this has been asked too...
I think te idea of it isnt being so intimate, but the idea of us beating the system and literally making history. What fanbase has booked their own artist before? Think about it, no ticketmaster, no scalpers, and personal invites to the people who want to see him most.
Hmm that sounds familiar. I wonder where i heard that before?

i read the 1st page of this thread, and didn't need to read anymore. Sounds like some of you are serious about this. Just look at what PHCs around the states contribute to charities/fund raisers etc. BN included.....but this concert would be the ultimate....sign me up for at least 10 tickets, maybe more. anyone with a BN handle registered before 5/12 should get priorty seating!

I hope someone runs with this idea......it could be a reality

The promoter (as of now the people reading this thread collectivly) is responsible for EVERYTHING except for 2 things...We dont play the music, and we dont own the venue. Outside of that we do it all, we make sure JB and the band have a place to stay, have food to eat, have a place to play, have money, etc...
Are you sure you're not, like, 45 years old??
If I hadn't met him several times, there's no way in HELL I'd believe he's not an adult..... And I'm still not positive he's not just a really small adult posing as a kid.... :o

Matt, just remember, when you become rich (you're already famous, here), you'll need a good security director.....
Shoot, he's more of an adult than some adults I know.

Wow... one day away and a whole lotta pages happened! I think I have read through them all... Seems we have come a long way from Friday night.

I am a little nervous that too many hands are in the pot. Well intended hands mind you. We just dont need 10 people bombarding HK Management with the same question. It makes us look like a very unprofessional bunch. :D

The point? Lets have our ducks in a row before we go off half cocked.

One other thing we may want to consider is to do this as a charity event 100%. We could ask that Jimmy and the band or whomever donate their proceeds to a charity of their choice, like Alzheimer's, Save the Manatee, etc. Then, in order to raise money, we could do fundraisers at concerts, PH club gatherings, wherever.

I'm getting a sense that the # of BN'rs going will be less than 1,000. Given most of us would pay that to see him, especially with rising ticket prices, but (trying not to sound greedy) any price that is lower than the original price is a plus.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

I tend to agree with you. I do not believe that every BNer will be able to attend. Travel, Logistics, Finances and (pick a reason) life in general with prevent many from attending.

I also believe that we must determine the motivation.

If its to see Jimmy in a more intimate setting then we do when he is on the road, it will cost more.

If the motivation is just to be the first phan base to book their "idol" (for lack of a better term @ this hour) ..then we open it up to the masses (ie Parrot Head Clubs).. with BNers getting priority seating.

But the first question is: Can it be done? Would Jimmy and his "peeps" be willing to let us book him? I believe that is to be found out tomorrow.
