I see what you're saying, but...

I've met a long list, but I know guys like Cubbie haven't met any. I don't think you can factor in only BNers who have met other BNers.
Like Tiki said, this isn't really logistical for all of us. I've been around here for two years and have yet to meet another BNer.

:D :D A we know you have been around just waiting for us to injest
enough Brain killers to put a Concert together
just so you could scalp eight or ten tickets.... :P :P :D :D

But I now have been shown that my idea is not perfect (not that I ever
thought that anyway)
:D but I was trying to help really ( and I'll vouch for you)

Now come and sit on Santas lap :D
Thanks for the vouch, I'll pass on the lap sit. 8)
Rob, since you are an AGR, that makes you Capt Cougie's brother so we have got you covered. And he won't let you sit on his lap, but I am another story

jellocannoncrew wrote:So I haven't excelled in math yet tonight :D but let me throw this out for the hell of it. If 10,000 people pay $150 would you pay $300 if it were only 5000 people? (i checked on the calculator) Let me take this a step further, if you only have 5000 people vs 10,000 then the logistics end of things brings your cost down; smaller venue, less security, etc etc.

I personally would easily pay $300 for a smaller, intimate show. I realize thats a lot of money when you have to double it or triple yet depending on your status. Plus transportation, lodging, etc. I guess it all boils down to what everyone would be willing to pay.
I personally would be ecstatic to be able to see him at a 5,000 seat venue. In fact when this whole thing started I thought that was the kind of thing we would be aiming for. I was concerned that if it got to 20 or 30 thousand people it would be "just another concert". So...I would be happy to pay $300 for my ticket. Bubba, up close and personal....be still my heart!!!

Don't forget we are also going to have to pay someone to hold the money in an escrow account. :(

I hate to say it, but the more I think about it, combined with my experience of putting these things together, it doesn't really seem feasible.

There are just too many variables.

Sadly, I've been thinking the same thing. But I'm still holding out hope. :D

I have more faith, we watched Phat Matt pull off the Peter Mayer show. So who knows what we can do.

Is there a venue in Savannah besides the civic center (inside) on the river?

Just a thought. I'd volunteer to live there and donate my time to HELP getting this set up if we could hold it in Savannah. (If I won the lottery.)

OK pholks, I can vouch for several of you phine pheathered phruits 8)

Midnight - thanks for taking the initiative/time and finding out the initial information. That was a good starting point.

There are lots of good suggestions/comments/ideas flying around. I personally am not able to do a business plan or effectively plan such a huge venture, but I am a good "worker bee" (read middle managment) and do see the potential here. I am willing to work at it in any capacity needed also.

As for putting my money where my mouth is (once I get my foot outta my mouth), I am willing to put $$ into an escrow account, once one is set up.

That said, count me in for the ride! :wench:

If we are serious about taking this to the next level(even if it ends up going nowhere), we need to start throwing ideas around regarding electing a committee.

Potential candidates, election policy, timeframe, credentials, etc..

Now, that would be truly UNIQUE. UNDER the water instead of NEAR it! :D

Thanks, MF for your efforts. This is indeed a big undertaking...I, too thought of Gravity Storm when trying to digest this -- nothing like a little reality check to bring back reality. :o :o :o

That said, there's still potential here; we've just got one heck of a mountain to climb, ocean to cross, etc. to make this thing happen. It's great to see the energy, creativity and ideas flowing across this board -- this thread my crash the whole board before it's through!! I confess I'm also amused that our concert idea has potentially become a charity in and of itself. Parrotheads...you gotta love 'em!! :D :D

Anyway, another thought to add to the ever-expanding detail list... re. security, we should see if our Alpine Valley friend might provide some security "consulting" for us...e.g. a good source of what this really takes, costs, concerns, liabilities, etc. I'll bet he'd have some great insight and may be willing to help us out, as well.

May the feeding frenzy continue.... :D

I really think this should be our next step in the process.

try this

This is a huge undertaking, and first of all, thanks to everyone who has done some legwork and brainwork already.

Here's an idea... how about trying a trial balloon, with a cut-off date.

Go ahead and set up the escrow account - somebody well known (and trusted) on the board should do it. If it can be done via PayPal, it will simplify things.

Then, to gauge interest/ability to get this thing done, let all of us BN'ers put money in - assume $300/person, no limit on how many tix per BN'er. Probably going to have to rely on the honor system to avoid @#!$%!@$% scalpers.

Set a cut-off date 6-12 months in the future. At that date, if we have a specific pre-set amount in hand, we move forward. Otherwise, refunds to all.

I know, I know, lots of details still to talk about - venue, etc., but at least we'd get a pretty good read on how willing we are to put our money where our mouths are.

As for me, I'm in, so is dear wife, dear brother and dear sister-in-law. Just say where to send the $$. :D

BTW... if we get this thing done, it's gonna be the coolest story of all time. 8)
