In the last ratings book Stern wasn't number 1 in NY. A Spanish language station's morning show beat him.

So true.

As for WEEI. My good buddy works for Ted Serandis and says he is a really good guy. But I just find his program boring. For my money, the Big Show is the most entertaining radio show out there. Even though all the hosts just yell at each other and really dont talk about sports alot, I still think it is a fun show.

Cubbie Bear wrote:I have given up on all sports talk. Everyone, every station, every city I have heard feel the need to bash. It has gotten to the point of not only making personal attacks, but soliciting them as well.

You Boston fans will love this, but I personally take offense to the treatment of Wendell Kimm, both in Boston and Chicago. Complain about his coaching decisions is one thing, and many were poor, but the attacks he had to endure were pathetic. I have known him a long time and know about the work he has done outside of baseball and for baseball players down on their luck. i know how deeply heart he was by the treatment he received. Sports information, does not and should not include atacking someone on that level, when the attackers know nothing about the human being they are ripping apart.

So if these idiots are spending a day bashing Jimmy, I say consider the source. Its their job to be stoopid and try to make others come running to the rescue of their target, just for laughs.
was He the Old Giants Base Coach???

Even if Howard wasn't #1, he's been in the top 3 for over 20 years now. That is success...

I think the REAL reason you're hearing grumbling from sports radio is pennant fever/frustration.
They would have nasty remarks regardless of WHO was trampling over their outfield.

WHY does an ownership group such as Red Sox really have to pimp out Fenway
as a concert venue (and just scarring up the turf) right in the heart of the pennant-race?
Unless they completely re-sod the outfield, and I don't recall them doing it last year,
it's gonna be a minefield out there.

Another entertaining radio sports show is out of Atlanta. ESPN just voted the "2 live steus" radio sports show as the #1 sports talk radio show. They broadcast from 790 the zone out of Atlanta. Their show is also sindicated by SIRIUS radio (and coming soon R.M.).

For the weeks after Buffett last year the entire center-field where the stage was was discolored. I dont think it affected the field that much but you could notice a difference.

Don't you remember what John Rocker said about NY? English is a second language here.

You CAN'T use the term "Taste" and Howard Stern in the same sentence, yet alone, the same thread....

Actually, in an ESL classroom Monday, there was a chart of all the students in the class. One of the colums was "How did you get to the country?"

No Joke @ all. And this is on Long Island, a suburb.

Seriously, I have been to Boston many times, and I just feel that guys like Mike and Chris Russo (the Mad Dog), Imus, and even Greenberg and Golic on ESPN in the morning are much more classy and knowledgeable (sp?) than anybody in Boston, and if Boston had ESPN radio, WEEI's numbers would drop to about the same ratings as the Fan's or lower. Just my .02

P.S. Here come the: Yankees! 10 in a row, baby! Gearing up for one of teh most exciting Subway Series in recent memory as both teams are playing well as of late.

It also doesn't help that Callahan is one of the biggest conservatives on Boston radio. A social activist like Jimmy is a prime target for Callahan...and Dennis just goes with the flow. They can't go 5 minutes on that show without bashing a democrat.

They bash The Rolling Stones? How lame. Boston? I dunno. Maybe it's because it's cold for 11 1/2 months out of the year up there. Or because the Bruins haven't won a Stanley Cup in 157 years. Now that the Sox have won, they have other losing teams to fuel their displeasure for where they live.

Very similar to New Orleans. Although I've listened to WWL's Jim Henderson's colour commentary for the Saints games and he's just absolutely hilarious - full of disgust that's marred in deep disappointment at the constant failure of the so-called NFL team that has the state handing the owner money over like they're funding NASA while the schools and streets are below the bar on the horrible category. When Henderson explains another screw-up by the Saints he sounds so dismayed. It truly is painfully hilarious.
