Do even Parrotheads get the blues
Lately I think I'm just too melancholy. My two sons are graduating from high school in a couple of weeks. I'm 41 years old and just seemto be reminiscing way too much.
I'm young, the kids are pretty independent, once we get thru college cash flow should be pretty good, and I"m going to be starting my own business soon. I should be dancing. But instead there are alot of songs I won't listen to because they get me down. And I am sure it's going to be worst when kids head off to college in the fall.
Usually the best thing for me is to have things jumping, stuff I'm planning, etc. But I just seem to be in a holding pattern.
How do Parrotheads shake the blues.

Most that I have heard from think of Shane nekkid. If that does not make you laugh, nothing will.OceanCityGirl wrote:Lately I think I'm just too melancholy. My two sons are graduating from high school in a couple of weeks. I'm 41 years old and just seemto be reminiscing way too much.

My pops went through this when my brother and I were gone. It too will pass.

Just out of curiousity do men really think they look good naked. I love it when they strut around like they're all that. Ladies can spend their money on whatever they want but there's still way more nudie female mags then mens. That should give you guys a clue.
PS - just the word nekkid makes me laugh

Yep. Nekkid is a phunny word!!
And Yep, even Parrotheads get the blues. I'm almost 40 (no kids though, at least of the "human" variety). I know what ya mean, I think. Just keep on keepin' on. Maybe it's time to start something entirely new. Lord knows if you can take a herd of teenagers to the beach for a week, you can do ANYTHING!!!!

Yep that's why I'm going to start a business. Ran our family hvac/r business for a bunch of years. Have done tons of volunteer fundraising event planning stuff. And have also helped friends start businesses. I am a full time substitute teacher but getting bored with it.
Probably going to do a corp event planning/marketing type of thing. Or provide small business start up services. I'm just trying to figure out how to turn the volunteer stuff into getting folks to trust me with their business.
Given my personality type i def need a new project. I'm not happy unless I have stress on my neck.

My mommy got "empty nest syndrome" pretty bad when I went to college... but once she started getting involved in things she enjoyed instead of doing everything for her children, then things got better for her.

Having had a long history or depression and associated disorders, I always find movies and comedy seem to help. That and green tea. For some reason, that always relaxes me.
Though starting a business will surely take your mind off of some things. I know how much time my businesses take up and I'm lucky I have time to think of anything else now:) Take care

I've had a couple businesses so I know the time comittment. And nothing could be worst then an hvac business where you are on call 24/7. I just love the planning and the doing. I love having lists and checking them off. I guess some people think that's crazy. I've had lots of just jobs. I either take charge or get bored.

yep ... the blues need to go away, and I am on the road to shaking them. Lost JP 6 months ago (my dear PH husband for 40 years), and I have been deep in the valley, but I'm starting to climb out. Lord ... life is tough at times. As Jimmy said " life throws you curveballs", and you never know when or where they will land. Just do what you have to do to get through it all. You'll survive.

Hugs to you dear. You put it all in persepective. I would think 6 months is only the beginning of climbing out. Please post of pm if you ever need to talk or vent. I don't know what you're going thru or how to help but I'd try to do whatever I could. I feel like such a whiner now.yep ... the blues need to go away, and I am on the road to shaking them. I'm going thru the same thing. Son graduates high school in a couple of weeks. Leaves to go off to school at the end of June, I move about 3700 miles from him.
The only thing that's getting me thru this right now is the drugs - the legal kind - ok maybe a little illegal thrown in
BUT I am so happy for my son - to see the wonderful young man he's turned into melts my heart. I am so proud that he's following his dream and has a level head.
If I could pick someone to be like - it would be my son. He has a great heart, level head and a wonderful sense of humor. And it's that fact that keeps me going!!!

Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

Hey OCG...no need to feel like a whiner...this happens to me all the time. Whenever I am feeling a little down or in the "woe is me" mode, that's when I see someone walking around with oxygen tanks, someone pulling themselves along in their wheelchair with the only leg they have left, a homeless person sleeping on a bench...seems the creator knows when to slap me back to reality and tell me that I have it pretty darn good.OceanCityGirl wrote:Hugs to you dear.
