Did you see this on the home page of that website:
Most of the DVD's listed have NEVER BEEN OFFICIALLY RELEASED ON DVD therefore they are copies from the ORIGINAL SOURCE
Sounds like an unauthorized version and Buffett's getting ripped off. But I suppose the people who think he's a sellout don't really care.

I'd watch out if I were you:-?
Members (including myself) have wanted a DVD version of this concert for quite some time, and if it had been released I'm sure there would have been a good long thread on it.
There's a reason it's listed on a "Rare DVD's" site. . .it's probably a homemade DVD. Quality might not be bad, but it's most likely NOT a legitamately produced DVD with the inherent video quality.
Just my $0.02

Good to see someone has noticed there's a demand for this title and has made it available but it does appear to be a bootleg, not the real thing. I'm sure if Buffett ever sees fit to re-release it and Tales From Margaritavision there will be a big to do about it and hopefully some rare bonus footage.

If they sue the creator(s) of this bootleg, I would think Jimmy would get the idea that there just might be, I don’t know… Just a little demand for a DVD version of this feature.ph4ever wrote:I suspect the attorneys for Jimmy are fast at work now
If they just file a lawsuit and don’t give an official release, that would not only upset me, but be a poor business move from my point of view. We’ve been waiting for this and Tales on DVD for years.
People say Jimmy’s a smart business man, but sorry, I just don’t see it.

You know, he's always said that he's very aware of his image and in not overexposing the brand. He's got you right where he wants you, begging for more music...why is this wrong on his part? Do you really think he needs your $19 at this instant?Parrot Monkey wrote:People say Jimmy’s a smart business man, but sorry, I just don’t see it.

Considering all of Buffett's other business ventures I find it odd myself that he hasn't reissued his back catalog along with making Live By The Bay and Tales from Margaritavision available on DVD. Then there's the potential of having his past performances on Austin City Limits available on DVD (and possibly CD), all he has to do is give the go ahead to New West Records. Back to the businessman part, it pretty much goes without saying that Mailboat has let more folks down than satisified them, at least judging from the responses I've seen here regarding a lot of his recent releases.

Definitely not, but it sure wouldn’t hurt him and I don’t see why your defending the non-existence of a much wanted product. In fact, I’m sure it’s been a much desired item since DVD became the norm in the late 90s/early 2000s.finsup2k wrote:You know, he's always said that he's very aware of his image and in not overexposing the brand. I don’t see simply releasing a video on DVD as hard or overexposure. Many artists have full-length concerts out on DVD and the majority of them aren’t exactly the over exposure/publicity hungry/spotlight hog type.
We’re asking for something as simple as a digital transfer of an already existing program, it’s not like we’re asking Jimmy and his company to go find the Ark of the Covenant.

Yeah, if the Coastal Confessions show can be done and released later this year on DVD (hopefully), how hard can it be to transfer already existing productions to DVD?Parrot Monkey wrote:Definitely not, but it sure wouldn’t hurt him and I don’t see why your defending the non-existence of a much wanted product. DVD
When I was in the New Orleans Margaritavile store two weeks ago, I noticed that the TV had the Live by the Bay DVD index and was not yet playing. I asked if there was a DVD but the person helping me unfortunately did not have a clue what I was talking about.

Even though this guy may be rippin' Jimmy off; his product just apprear legit. On Ebay he has sold a bunch of the Jimmy DVD's and he has gotten great reviews for all of them.
Even though I dont want to support someone who is illegally capitalizing on Buffett; the fact that Jimmy refused to put out DVD's makes buying this product very intriguing...
