RM preview on Sirius today!

Post by Jimmy4pres »

Just a phriendly reminder, fellow PH's! Sirius is previewing RM today on channel 98! There is a "Coming Soon" announcement loop on it right now, but stay tuned!

If you don't have it, today would be a good day to sign up for the free three day preview.

Is it still looping? Mine's at home recording just in case anything cool comes on.

I got my receiver yesterday evening and didn't have alot of time to get it set up. I have to find a permanent antenna solution.

Just turned my receiver on, it's still a looping commercial. Is there going to be anything else? So far this isnt much of a preview... It also looks like they wont be replacing it with the vacation channel, since they are also advertising it on their website as channel 98. The vacation channel is 90% Buffett anyways, so now its double the amount of Jimmy. Sweet....

I hope they keep the Vacation station also. I love it. It plays much much more tropical music than Radio Margaritaville plays and that's what I love. I've discovered alot of TropRock and other bands that I never heard of before listening to Vacation.

I already sent an e-mail to Sirius asking them to keep it, for what it's worth.

I've been hearing conflicting reports of its demise. Some people on backstage.sirius.com are saying once Radio Margaritaville is fully operational on Channel 98, they may delete 97. I guess something like this has happened in the past.

I agree with keeping the vacation channel. It is nice to listen to and I have also enjoyed some of the different singers and bands on it!!

That being said, bring on Radio Margaritaville as well! :D

change up

Post by Jimmy4pres »

Yes, seems like they are changing it up. Maybe they are starting slow. Some island music is playing, and mostly Buffett (of course!). The songs are just snip-its so far.

Like I said, maybe they are easing us into it? Or teasing us! :x :D

This seems like it will be a cool channel! I do hope that it is a bit different than the online version, just to make it worth switching from XM to Sirius!

I just checked Sirius.com and they are ophicially listing channel 98 as RM. Also, here is a quote from the website about the programming:

"Escape to Margaritaville. Parrotheads, your ship has come in. From multi-platinum singer, songwriter and author Jimmy Buffett comes a radio paradise of great music, live broadcasts of Buffett’s concerts and other unique programs.

What we play: Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor, Little Feat, Bob Marley, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, The Beach Boys, Harry Belafonte, The Eagles and many more."

RM is not playing yet through the web-site (sirius) - not even a commercial. I did find it listed though at the bottom of the "Pop" stations if your looking for it.
