I'm on the "Ice Cream Diet". Plus, I switched to Corona Light.
If that doesn't work, I shall try the "Cat Miracle Diet".

The exercise part is doing either an upper or lower body workout with weights and alternating days with a 20 minute aerobic workout. The workouts using weights usually takes about 45 minutes to complete. I am actually spending less time in the gym than I was before and getting better results.

AWESOME!!! Sounds like a great approach!!!

Yes. I wish someone would create a better scale adaptable to body frame size.

But, it's still better than just measuring weight!

That's true.

I have a Tanita scale that measures weight plus bodyfat percentage. It is not very accurate for single measurements because it can fluctuate according to hydration levels throughout the day. The trend is what's important -- since I've lost a few pounds over this spring I've noticed the overall percentage go down about 3-4 points.

Carbs or no carbs?
I personally dont watch my carbs too much with the exception of bread. I try not to eat 4 pieces of garlic bread!
I mainly just watch calories and excercise.
How often do y'all excercise? For the first 6 weeks, I tried to lift/run up to 5 times a week. Now I cut it back to 3-4 x a week. Still see the same results.

Carbs supply energy and we need them. I exercise every day at lunch. And 3 days a week after work.

Some. Mostly the ones in whole grains and veggies though. We've skipped the pastas and potatoes for the time being, although I keep some in the fridge to serve to the kids with their dinners.

Whole grains especially with lots of fiber! Look for bread that had 4gms of fiber per slice. No enriched breads. Baked potatoes are way good, but keep the pastas (especially white) to a minimum.

This is WAYYYYYYYYYYY hard to find at your regular grocery store. Much better time finding stuff like this at a Whole Foods or organic grocer. I spent about 30 minutes in the bread section at the store looking at ingredients on bread.
"enriched white/wheat flour", "sugar", and "corn syrup" are almost always listed in the first 3 ingredients. The brown bread that stores usually pass off as "whole wheat" are loaded with sugar and provide very little fiber.
There were only two brands that didn't have enriched flour or sugar at my regular grocery store. I was surprised, though, it doesn't taste bad at all.

Yep, Mal... it is increasingly harder to find quality bread anymore. My grocery store is always hit or miss on what's in stock.

I'm TRYING to lose about 15 pounds for the Summer. And keep it off for MOTM. I was 118 when I got married in Jan. 1990. After infertility treatment and 2 children, I topped 200. (last scale read 218 I think, can't remember I was in shock!) Now I'm at 143 and scared I'll gain it all back. I had lost 90 pounds over all and the thought of being THAT heavy again terrifies me. I'm 5'2". I began my diet today. So far, so good. Having the exercise bike my the bedroom instead of the basement helps. In the basement, it was out of sight, out of mind. In my room, it's constantly staring at me!!

Wow, to lose 90 pounds is to be commended! You are wise to have your exercise bike right there where you can see it. Making your exercise part of your daily routine is important and you can look at it as something special you do for yourself. It benefits you and benefits your family.

I actually enjoy some exercies. The bike, walking, swimming...hard core workouts...I'll pass. And, my keets like to walk with me. My older, Jim, will be 15 in the fall. He's 6 feet tall and 224 pounds. He works out at the field house 3 times a week, training for fall football. He has always been a little chubby but he's turning into a grown man right before my eyes. The "tummy" is dissappearing and his shoulders are huge!!!
I have to say, I like hearing "Jim!! That's your MOM??"...makes me laugh, makes him blush. And my daughter, who is 6, thinks Mommy is perfect! (Wonder how long that will last??)
The "do somethings for yourself"...I do. After I lost the 90 pounds, I really began taking care of myself. Doing my nails and dressing a little more modern...oh, and for my 30th birthday, I got a belly ring!

i went from 200 (size 16) to 138 (size 6) from december 2001 to august 2002. i am now up to 155 (size 8-10) and i'm trying to get back down closer to 145 - where i feel i look and feel the best. during that time i was with ediets.com which was very helpful in training me in my eating habits - portion and chioce-wise. also - i found a forum and support group where we all chatted each day and set up monthly challenges (earning points for water, calories, minutes of exercise, etc) and 'competed' with each other a little. we even had trophies and t-shirts! i still keep up with those people - it was fun! i'm just not as rigid about following my plan as i used to be -
so there's my story - LOL

18 days until I am sipping some cold ones on the Outer Banks. I think I can lose that little weight by then! I may even be able to lay off the diet a LITTLE.

Just be careful with that!!! Hubby and I have both done really well, and lost about 25lbs each in anticipation for our trip to Mexico next week. We fudged a little over the weekend at a graduation party but are really watchin' ourselves this week so we can really enjoy the food on our trip.
Be good now so you don't have to be later!!!!
I met my goal for vacation too...just trying to hold it steady for another 5 days and maybe even drop 1-2 more.
You can do it!
