To clairify Lakewood in Atlanta, they don't let anything in that will compete with the vendors inside the Ampitheater. You can buy food and beer in Lakewood. The parking lot opens early, I usually get there at 9 or 10 in the morning. Anything goes in the p-lot and they'll park you with extra space for your stuff. For several years, a guy that had a pool store brought a 14 foot diameter aboveground pool and a tanker truck to fill the thing.

I read the warnings and rules and they are LONG.
I have always sat in the pavillion but this year I'm lawn. It seems before I remembered coolers, drinks, chairs and all sorts of jazz on the lawn but maybe not?
Most of the venues warn against that in thier general information. Is that everyone's actual experience or do you just do as you want?
Also, when tailgaiting...Ever had a venue say no alcohol or grills in the parking lot? I KNOW that bites and can't see every car coming to a tailgate without it.
Just wondering. Thanks!
where are these rules posted???

I hail from Indiana, and at Deer Creek/Verizon they do prohibit grills in the lot that use open flame. I think electric is ok, but not sure-never tried. They do a spotty search at the gate, like every other entrance line has a metal detector wand, but nothing serious. I usually stuff a camera down into my nether regions and so far I'm 4 and 0. They look in purses and make you shake out blankets. And lift your shirt if it's not tucked in. There are security patrols on the lawn, but they stick to the paths, so if you're trying to pull off a illicit manuver be sure you can't be seen from the paths. Once the show's over though, I see plenty of people urinating on the fence in full view so apparently at that point nobody cares.
Now I've been to Cinci a few times, and the last time (3 years ago) it was pretty much live free or die up on the lawn. The scar on my chin from a belligerent drunk can attest to that. No paths or patrols that I could see, and no attempt at searching at the gate. Which is a double edged sword IMO. The tailgating though, was awesome, and mostly unregulated on the parking area across from the venue which I believe is under different ownership. However, all my decor was picked clean off my car when I returned after the concert, first time in 7 years I'd had that happen. I'd go again, but only in a group larger than 4 and don't leave anybody by themselves, especially on the lawn.
Both venues apparently prohibited coolers of any kind, and Indy rents their own chairs so it's either theirs or the ground. Of course, umbrellas are allowed if rain if forcast. Different venues may have a board up in front of the gate listing what's allowed.

Thanks everyone!
The rules I was asking about are on Nissan's site. The other phead posted about it today.
I wasn't thinking no tailgate but maybe not as fun of a tailgate with a set of rules like that.
They are on the general information section of the site.
Last two years I was at Merriweather and thier policies are real open. I had a blast.
Hoping for the same this year, at a different venue...however I have to do it.
P.S. I saw picks of a couple in relations at a lawn last year, and I think a hummer incident too. NASTY!! They all looked wasted, probably strangers. lol
Anyways, thanks again. I can't wait!!!

Even with the river dammed up it doesn't matter.
Worst surgery I ever had.

Dude... I can feel your pain...
well, actually, I can commiserate, but lack the sum of experiences (snipping, and marriage) to truly empathize..
