Sports: Most destructive NON athlete

Got this idea off of the radio this morning:

Who is the most destructive force in sports (among NON-athletes)?

Scott Boros: Baseball agent. This guy is so hated in baseball that players he represents don't get drafted when they should. Example: Last year, Jared Weaver should have been the #1 pick. Boros is so hated that 11 teams passed on Weaver, he was taken 12th by the Angels (where he wanted to play all along). Boros advised Weaver to keep holding out and re-enter the draft this year (like he did with JD Drew a few years ago). Weaver, smartly, finally signed this week (after a YEAR!), but has lost valuable development time. His career has suffered for it.

Drew Rosenhaus Football agent. Does anyone find it odd that EVERY SINGLE PLAYER that is holding out this summer has "Hold-Em-Out Drew" for his agent? He gets players to leave their agents, but he gets nothing unless he gets a new contract, so he makes them hold out, to their detriment and the team's. Terrell Owens, Javon Walker, etc.

Jerry Jones Owner, Dallas Cowboys. OK, this guy just wants to win. But he clearly believes that the rules to not apply to him.

George Steinbrenner Owner, New York Yankees. Also a guy who thinks he is above the rules. He has so skewed the competitive balance in baseball that few other teams can compete.

Donald Fehr Head of the Major League Baseball Players Union. This Jackass thinks that steroids are good for you!!! He is the man who has been in charge of the union during 4 of the 5 labor stoppages in baseball history. He doesn't have the players best interests in mind, only the stars.

Bud Selig Major League Baseball Commissioner. I don't like putting him on this list, but if I include Fehr, I have to include Selig.

Gary Bettman Commisioner of the NHL. Totally incompetant to run a sport. Look at the state of the (non) game. Need I say more?

Bob Goodnow Head of NHL Players Union. See above.

Kevin Wyberg He is the guy considered most responsible for the "BCS", and the guy who has the power to continually shoot down a playoff system for NCAA football.

Good one! He's destroyed a lot of careers, Mike Tyson's being the most visible...

(Tyson's first fight under King? Buster Douglas)

Oh Danny boy, Daniel Snyder. Took our once proud franchise the Redskins and turned into a complete debacle. As much as I hate the Cowgirls at least Jerry Jones shut up and backed off after he meddled too much.

Charged freaking admission and parking fees for scrimmages one year

Added 10k extra seats at Fed Ex Field that I wouldn't even give a Cowboy fan tickets to because they are obstructed view seats. But the brochure tells you that there are pleanty of high def tvs around your seat to enjoy the game eff that crap.

Jacked ticket prices up so much the 5 years plus he has owned the team it freaking costs 60 bucks just to set in the nose bleed seats. 30 buck parking at Fed Ex Field dosen't help either.

Thanks Danny You Bastard SOB Snyder for ruining my once proud team

Greg Marmalard: "Well that would be hard to say, sir. They're each outstanding in their own way."

Dean Vernon Wormer: "Cut the *****, son."

I don't know about ALL of sports, but in baseball it's DEFINATELY got to be a tie between Fehr and B.S. Selig.

Gotta disagree with you. Knight gets a lot of bad press, but a lot of the most recent stuff was just gratuitous "piling on" by sports writers who aren't good enough to hold his jockstrap.

Anyone involved in the lousy B.C.S. process.

Gotta love it when greed interferes with actually allowing a National Champion to be decided on the field.

All of 'em are greedy bastards.
They each help to define the term "capitalist pig"

that's a shame, too
cuz there's plenty of money out there to be made.

Each of them just has to be the one to make more of it. :x

Hell has partially frozen over a Vol and a Gator agreeing on something

When old man Cooke died, I thought the NFL would have the balls to allow Cooke's son to buy the team and keep it in the family since Jack Kent Cooke was so respected as an owner. He had the money, the backing of all the NFL owners minus Al Davis who obstains from every vote, but he was 100 MIL less than Danny boys you bastard SOB offer.

Most thought including myself that the NFL would want to keep the team in the family and accept the lower bid from Cooke. Of course we all know Snyder bought the team and has done nothing but make a mockery of it.

The PC police haven't been on him as bad about the Redskin name as other sports, but that mother effer better not even think about bowing to the political correctness pressures and change the team name. I have been a diehard burgandy and maroon since I was 3, if he pulls a stunt like this I and thousands of other skins fans will go elsewhere.

Go to hell Danny boy you bastard SOB

Who are the potson brothers?

They are football agents, they represent Kellen Winslow Jr, Julian Peterson etc. Orlando Pace was represented by them until he realized he would never get a long term contract with their outrageous $$ demands, he got smart and fired them.

I gotta go James Dolan    , owner of Madison Square Garden (MSG). I don't want him running my fantasy leagues. James Dolan blacked out Yankee Fan/Cablevision subscibers (sp?) a few years ago when the Yankees got their own network. Not to mention Knicks and Rangers (RIP) prices are way too high.

Furthermore, he is against the Jets proposed new West Side Stadium, (and 2012 Olympic Stadium) in Manhatten (not NJ Meadowlands) becuase it could take revenue away from MSG. He then tries to make us believe that we will lose money (not true) and basically threw a hissy-fit when he wasn't able to buy some MTA abandoned rail yards (not being used for anything). Does he not realize that if NY gets the Olympics, in 2012 that New York's economy will drastically increase. This rant may spin off to another thread.

I also have to say one thing in defense of Steinbrenner.

He wants to win. He has a load of money and doesn't mind spending it. Does he always spend it wisely? No. (see Jason Giambi; last time I checked, Tino's doing fine.) But when you consider that some owners in sports are in it to make money and if the team wins, more power to them, if not, as long as they're in the black its okay (see James Dolan and LA Clippers owner). I'd much rather have Steinbrenner.
