Managers must work at McDonalds 10 years then they get a 3 month sabbatical during the summer monthes. I had an employee once who needed the summer off to accompany her hubby to where ever they were subbaticalling.
Its a common term used in education.... once designed for the professors to go off and write books, give lectures and the like.
I don't believe most Big Business is so easily swayed.

If you ever taught school, you'd know why we wish every month could be June.DsilCaribe wrote:I always find it ridiculous that teachers, out of all professions, take sabaticals. . . 3 months per year in the summer isn't enough!?!??!?!??phjrsaunt wrote:I always thought only teachers and preachers took them. Today is my first day of "summer vacation" so I am in far too good of a mood to respond to this with anything other than aDsilCaribe wrote:I always find it ridiculous that teachers, out of all professions, take sabaticals. . . 3 months per year in the summer isn't enough!?!??!?!??phjrsaunt wrote:I always thought only teachers and preachers took them. if you are a highschool teacher or a college professor i can see it being a difficult job and being very tedious, having to memorize the same thing and teach it to similar uninterested teenagers every year. . .but if you are a kindergarden teacher or a elementary school teacher or anything like that and you were to give me the excuse that "little kids are just hard to deal with" i'd just tell you that "well, your job is to deal with those kids and teach them . . .if you dont like it thats too bad, cuz thats ur job" . . . as far as I see it, all you need to know to be a teacher for young kids is know how to spell, do simple addition, know how to read, and know how to speak nicely and smile (i could be totally wrong though)conched wrote:If you ever taught school, you'd know why we wish every month could be June.DsilCaribe wrote:I always find it ridiculous that teachers, out of all professions, take sabaticals. . . 3 months per year in the summer isn't enough!?!??!?!??phjrsaunt wrote:I always thought only teachers and preachers took them. I am a Kindergarten teacher...and yes, you are totally wrong...do I complain about my job?...hell no...I love it!!!..but to imply that teaching young children is easy is way off base...I hate to burst your bubble, but education is a lot different than when we were kids...if I may ask, what do you do for a living?
