Since I live in paradise.....I guess everyday is a vacation :D

I do love to make it to Alaska though. Summer months only! :D I have not been in a while. I plan to take DKD sometime in the next year or two since she has never been. Have to teach her to fish first though. :D

Good point...I appreciate the fact that if I want a beach break I have only a 30 minute drive to hit Clearwater Beach!! It makes weekend getaways affordable.

Last September instead of heading to the Caribbean, we decided to stay home and enjoy the new pool. besides bad timing (the hurricanes taking out both of the weekends... ) we realized when you stay home, you still have to deal with phone, mail, bills, neighbors, chores etc. Just didnt seem like a REAL vacation!!

So from now on.... we vowed to get back to the tradition of going somewhere! You need to get away and unwind!

22 days until Jamaica...but who's counting!!

I've never been out of the country  :x But since I live in FL, I get plenty of weekend or just daily trips to the beach.

I'm actually starting to plan (and save) for a caribbean vacation....so a question to those of you who are well travelled.

What would you recommend for a first timer going to the caribbean? I'm leaving towards St. Barts right now. Any ideas that might be better suited? I really don't know a lot about the islands....

Don't forget your trip to the paradise of Cedar Rapids coming up.

After living in Hawaii for 11 years, I've made five trips back there since 1988, including two months ago for Jimmy's concert.
I've been all over the South Pacific, but never to the Caribbean Islands. Hopefully someday I will. (I guess Key West could be considered the "gateway to the Caribbean." That's as close as I've been).

We love the tropical vacations when we can afford them. Some of the favorite routine visits include: Bahamas, BVIs, AVIs, Haiti, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Keys, Mexico - gulf coast, Mexico - baja, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and for the local trips, Santa Cruz and Monterey. If we are tapped out, we just walk out our back door and step into the Tiki Bar.

Hmmm been to many.... Jamaica is where we have been returning for the past 6 years...... It depends what you want in a vacation.....

For us...Jamaica has it all and the dollar in 38-1...which makes it affordble. If you dive...the Mexican Riviara is the place to be...... If you golf...Jamaica.... Drinking and Relaxing is everywhere. Most islands are very hospiible...most countries depend on tourism so they want you to "come back!"
