True, but since it was a school trip with chaperones, I'd be really surprised if they LET them go to a bar.

Unless she and her friends were drunk I can't imagine why she would get into a car with complete strangers or why her friends would let her. Maybe the guys slipped something in her drink whether it was alcolohic or not. I pray that she might still be alive and that they find her, but it doesn't look good.

A very real possibility....

I agree, but you know how creative HS kids can be.....maybe the adults didn't know they were at the bar??
Too many unanswered questions.....

I just can't imagine a girl in her right mind doing something like that

I have heard reports that the chaperones disavowed any responsibility for monitoring the teens' behavior on this trip. They said they were there simply in case the teens needed to contact an adult in an emergency.
The parents, the teens, and the chaperones were all aware that the legal drinking age in Aruba is 18.
I can imagine that none of these kids had ever been in a bar before and had zero situational awareness in that scenario.
The whole trip was begging for trouble, IMHO. This should never be repeated!

What kind of parent lets a kid of 17 go to a tropical island with 100 of their just graduated friends even WITH chaperoning? Too much margin for error and poor judgment.
