It appears that the recordings contained in JB’s first two albums, Down To Earth and High Cumberland Jubilee have been reissued/repackaged yet again in another senseless compilation. This one doesn’t attempt to re-order the tracks, as disc one is DTE and the second is HCJ.

The cover image though is rather neat and would be a great addition to the package for AWSCAPC when it’s finally reissued (that album had no pics on the back cover).

Anywho, Jimmy really needs to consider purchasing the masters to these two albums. I know I’ve said many times it would be a wise investment to acquire the 1973-88 material, but yet another compilation of the first two albums has made me widen the first year to 1970. This madness needs to stop!

That would be the Celebrity Licensing Corporation, which somehow got a hold of the masters to these two albums when Barnaby went under and lends them to any record company that wants them.

My idea was for Jimmy to buy them so he could have more control, but we all know he pretty much disowns these 2 albums, apart from the songs he re-recorded (Captain and the Kid, In the Shelter, Livingston’s Gone to Texas). Besides those, can you recall anything from these being in a setlist, not counting the joking around “Stump the Band” versions?

I thought for sure with that topic title it was surely another ALPINE thread!!!!!!!
