SIRIUS experience

Post by jbirdbuc »

Wanted to start a post about the June 15th kickoff. I had a blast, everyone please post what you did to listen. My wife and I have dish, so the home stereo had speakers aimed towards the back porch at a very high volume level. Then we made the best margaritas, cuervo gold, cointreau, grand marnier with limeade on the rocks. Best margarita in a while, caroline street was probably my favorite, Jimmy sounded great!!! What did you do and what did you think!?!?

We had a mini reunion of the group that went to Nissan last year to see the show... made cheeseburgers, danced around to my new sirius player, and watched the Yankees kick some a**!!!

Tuned in at 7pm and waited like a little kid for 30 minutes. The sound quality was outstanding, the pre show interview with Jimmy was great and I absoluely loved the mention and positive remarks about Howard Stern. Afterall Howard and Jimmy are now playing on the same team.

I know this has been mentioned a thousand times but why doesn't Jimmy just do a killer setlist and drop some of the newer stuff? I know it's new and refreshing for him and the band, and the album did hit #1 but even still I would vote for 3hrs of classic, essential, true Jimmy songs.

How was the overall sound quality compared to RM on the computer?

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

It seems like the announcers that where on Margaritville Radio have been eliminated :( I hope this is not the case, cause it was nice to have some back ground info on songs and such. other then that it's Phantastic to now be able to hear it also on Dish networks, CH 98 :P :P in the backyard - hot tub at nite with the stars over head :D :D ,Isn't great when such a little thing can make life feel so fun. :P :P

Yeah, this is not the old RM. I've been listening through the RM site for the past hour or two. No Steve, just music and RM on Sirius promos.

And if you check the program schedule, it only lists 1 Buffett Buffet and 1 Coral Reefer Madness Hour.

I have also heard Jackson Browne twice in the past hour and a half.

I hope that the deal with Sirius was not just a name change from the "Vacation channel the Margaritaville Radio" :( oh well........ time will tell, maybe this is just a introduction period for ritaville Radio

I doubt it... but all ya gotta do is check to see if RM on the PC is playing the same as RM on Sirius.

Im sure I will get FLAMED for this but... I couldnt hardly listen to RM with Steve as DJ.... got to be one of the worst, dry DJ's.... BUT I dont care for DJ's on the radio anyway. :o

I kinda of agree with you here. I love the new format, even though they have played a couple artists more then once (I do expect a couple JB and hour). I really wasn’t a huge fan of RM before. I am a big fan now, I think it seems more like Jimmy’s description of a Pirate radio station now. They play whatever the hell they want, whenever they want. I heard, the Allman Brothers Band, Bonnie Riatt, Jonnie Mitchell, Jack Johnson, and others. Steve not giving doing his thing ever couple minutes (not that I minded him, but sometimes he would talk about some boring things for long periods of time, and I do think he does a great job running the station). It is twice what the Vacation Station was and it is way better then pre-Sirius. Now this review is only after about 3 ½ hours of listening this morning. But, two big fins up!

I heard a lot of good music for the first time on RM, I was glad Steve was there to give me background on the song. Without a Sirius receiver, it will be tough to identify the name and artist of a new song I like.

But listening to RM on-line, I have to believe it is the same as the Sirius feed.

I once heard a concert pre-show interview that Steve did with Jimmy... and Steve started out talking about the Summer Solctist(sp?) and continued to ramble on about it like he was nervous to be talking to JB? When time was up Jimmy made some kind of comment like time was up and all you was talk about this...?

I agree, I never felt Jimmy and Steve really connected when they spoke.

On another note, did you ever see RM's description of and link to BN?

The latest news, discussion groups, a photo gallery, and much more. These folks are on top of it.

I felt like I was given a HUGE gift! This is great.....I have tv's in every room, so I go turn them all on, and have RM all throughout the house. Online, RM always crapped out about every two minutes because of my slow connection. Now, I get it ALL DAY ALL NIGHT ALL WEEK!!!
