I bought mine in January and got the Stream Jockey. It is a plug and play device that fits in to a cradle in your car and there is a cradle for the house and I also bought a portable battery powered pod for it. There is also a boom box available that it can plug in to. The pod has a built in antenna. The unit attaches to the cradle and requires an antenna and a power source. The car kit comes with a magnetized antenna that sits on top of your vehicle, and the power source plugs into your cig lighter or power point. My unit can either be hard wired into your car stereo using line out or you can use the built-in FM transmitter. You set the FM frequency on the unit that you want to use and set your radio to that station. I use that in my company vehicle and it works great. In my personal vehicle I have a cassette tap play so I bought one of the cassette adaptors and plug it into om Sirius unit. They both sound great. I bought an antenna for each vehicle so I could run the wires out of site(under the carpet and trim) They cost about $25 each. The car unit comes with a "sticky" bottom that attached to your car. I bought velcro from Walmart and just move the entire unit from car to car. It's just a matter of unplugging the antenna and moving the unit and power cord to the other car or house. I also bought an antenna for using it in the house
Since I bought mine another plug n play unit is available that can record 4 hours of Sirius content. It looks like it works the same way as mine just smaller and the record feature is nice. It also has a FM transmitter and is called "REGO" http://www.xactcommunication.com/Sirius ... go-84.html
OK can anyone help with software to convert a concert that was DVR'd through satellite TV - then copied onto a DVD? I want to convert it to MP3. I've got the FreeRip program but it won't do it

It all depends on the format of the files on the DVD
I have XM, I love it, depending on what you want, compare the channel line-ups before you decide, I know everybody wants RM, but I saw the rest of what Sirius has, and XM seems to have more channel options.
Speaking as a Parrothead, My brother gets some Sirius channels through his Dish Network and it's better than XM in my opinion.
Even though I don't like stations dictating what I listen to, I may have to drop Comcast and get the Dish just so I can get RadioMargaritaville.
I've found and downloaded quite a bit of music thanks to Sirius.

welcome Rich.
I'm sure your advice will come in handy!
(I'm cheap former live radio DJ, so no sirius for me)
I'm thinking about getting this and need to know what to get.... Looking to get it for my car and home..
Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
I would recommend a plug and play that has a boom box option. Go here and look around. Either of the Sportsters, PNP3, Xact, Jensen (Wal-Mart) or JVC models have boom boxes. There is a $50 rebate on any Sirius radio right now.
I personally have a PNP and Sportster boom box. Both are great.

I have a dish network plug and play and bought a boombox from Radio Shack...both are great but batteries last only about an hour of use...does the box drain the batteries even when I have it turned off?

The batteries should last 4 to 6 hours of play depending battery quality. Rechargeable batteries do not preform all that well. The boom box is a 5 watt unit and demands a little juice to run things. I upgraded my speakers (Wal-Mart Lightening speakers, $24) in my Audiovox boom box and made a big difference in SQ and volume.
You will get battery drain if you do not turn off the battery power mode before plugging into 120 V.
I've had XM for a while - but thinking about also investing in Sirius. I don't yet need a unit for the vehicles, but am primarily interested in RM and to generally check out the programming and such.
I'm starting to check out the options, but thinking along the lines of unit + boombox to start. And then if I wanted, I could line out from the boom box into my PA system for tailgates and backyard parties and the like...
Am I better off with Circuit City, Walmart or someplace else to make the first investment to see if I like it?

Xact has the
ReGo (Record and Go) coming out anyday. This unit will be a plug and play, mp3 player, a boom box option and has a wearable kit. Sirius will release their true hand held wearable when the generation 3 units come out in time for this Christmas.

Here is a LINK that will help you find a retailer or buy from Sirius Direct. Circuit City, Best Buy, Radio Shack, Wal-Mart are the largest retailers of Sirius radios, but not one has all models. Shop online and then go look. The new Sportster IR is the top seller at Crutchfield's Online Store. This unit has not hit the Big Box retailers yet, but will be there anyday.

Good luck shopping.
Thanks for the good information and quick reply. Since I was hoping to make it to the concert today, I may opt for the next best thing... buying a sirius receiver and listening to it on the back deck while drinking cold beer and eating a cheeseburger.
