Where did these lyrics come from?

"Such a long haul to such a short fall..."

Were those lyrics on another version of a Jimmy song?
That was one of the acoustic solo performances from the “Exit Inn” show, where Jimmy played many songs from the A-1-A era (think that’s right) that for some reason were never given studio recordings nor put on an album. Also among them are “Reservation and the Preservation” “Peddlers and Pushers” and “Buttermilk Grove”.

That show(s) would make a great CD release...

LP Update: Just got back from another record store and got A1A, You Had to be There, CILCIA, Volcano, SYKBH, Riddles in the Sand, Last Mango in Paris, SOASOAS, and Havaña Daydreamin' all in mint condition, plus James Taylor's Gorilla and Steve Goodman's Jessie's Jigs & Other Favorites and his self-titled album all for $55. Very awesome, I know I'm gonna sound like Parrot Monkey, but it sure is great to have these records with all the liner notes and pictures... woo hoo!!!

I'm actually kind of upset that Parrot Monkey hasn't said anything yet.

At a little used record shop about 20 minutes from my house. So now I have all Jimmy's albums from A1A to Volcano and Riddles in the Sand to Floridays. Apparently some parrothead came in and bought up a few of 'em, but I'm quite happy to have 10 to myself now. I'm thinking it was a good deal for all those albums. Plus now I have Lighthouse on record, plus a couple Steve Goodman LPs. I'm so glad that I bought a record player cuz now I have these parrothead treasures.

Oh, I’m here. Great find, I’m sure you’ll enjoy each one more than those cheap-assed, BS-filled, disgraceful CDs. If you were to make your own CDs form transferring/recording off your vinyls to CD, they would probably sound better than the official ones.

I was busy in another thread where I was getting bashed about sticking up for JB’s catalogue like this. Do you believe that? I know I’m repetitive like they say, but don’t you think it’s right to do so the newbies take notice? I do.

Someone wanting me to talk about MCA’s mishaps, this is a refreshing change of pace. Thanks td!

I completley agree with you. The LPs are great. So you can consider me a silent partner in your crusade.  8)

PM-
I was wondering, aren't the old songs on "Boats, Beaches ,Bars, and Ballads" as well as "Meet Me In Margaritaville" remastered?

With exception to Down To Earth and High Cumberland Jubilee, I have all of Buffett's original vinyl releases (ABC/Dunhill and later on the MCA releases) and rereleases (MCA). Even Barnaby's Before The Salt.

The only vinyl album I never bothered to get was Off To See The Lizard and I think that was because I had a hard time finding it.

I have everything on vinyl from White Sportcoat through Hot Water (except for One Particular Harbor) including the original version of Rancho Deluxe. I did have an original pressing of High Cumberland Jubilee but passed it along to a friend after I picked up Before the Salt.

I have been picking up vinyl when I can find it, but it is mostly SYKBH that I see. I have about 10 LPs, some I'll put into frames when I build my bar.

[quote="sonofabeach
Last week I bought a near mint Buffett handwritten Columbia Test Pressing called "Kick it in Second Wind" containing some very rare songs as well as some classics.
As I sat there in my floor burning the songs to cd and listening with my headphones I noticed that the sound was great and even noticed things musically that I've never heard before.[/quote]

That sounds like a great find. Any info on the list of songs, etc? I never heard of that before.

That's awesome. I have 10 albums in mint condition and I've only been collecting since last week. Looked around again today, but couldn't find anymore.

So is Hot Water the last Vinyl to come out? I just started collecting, and need to know where to stop

I have all of the albums on vinyl and some of the 45s. I think Hot Water is the last one on vinyl.

Wouldn't it be novel for Jimmy to put LTC out on vinyl for collecting. (Or he could redo any old vinyl to collect.) Sometimes it is nice just to have the artwork on vinyl covers, inserts, etc.

Willie Nelson stills sells a vinyl at his shows. Does anyone else still sell vinyls at shows?

I think I remember reading somewhere that Off To See the Lizard was the last album to be issued on vinyl. When I purchased it (Lizard) vinyl had already been phased out by my local record store.

I'd love to see Buffett release some stuff on vinyl but I'd rather see him reissue and remaster the inferior stuff that's out there on CD first. Seems that those of us that care about that sort of thing are in the minority, at least as reflected by this site but that doesn't mean it isn't a worthy cause.

As for selling vinyl at shows, I'm not sure about that but I know of several artists that make their albums available on CD and vinyl: Ryan Adams, R.E.M., Pearl Jam, Tift Merritt, Drive-By Truckers, Bright Eyes, U2 and I'm sure there's more.
