I just wondered if you guys had ever thought about if JB really quit touring like he has hinted at for 20+ - years.
Who would fill the summer tour void.??
Perhaps:
A coral reffer band featuring Mac Macanaly (think "the dead")
Kenny Chesney(Even thought he would't make a scab on Buffetts ass)
Or a new talent any thougts????

Sure there may be someone new musically to follow..... however the lifestyle portrayed in the music of Jimmy Buffett will be a part of my way of life for many many years to come...Tour or no tour.

No one will "replace" Jimmy. Nor will there be a need to. Do we expect someone to replace The Stones, The Eagles, CSN&Y etc? No. Bands break up or stop touring for whatever reason. And ya deal with it...either by going to see other artists, having your own PH parties, whatever.
And as much as I love Jimmy, he's not the only musician in my life. Music is a huge part of my life, and I enjoy many different styles and many different artists. If Jimmy was the only musical influence on my life I think I'd be a very one sided person.
I do love all the musicians who have been inspired by Jimmy...so seeing them, in small venues, would definitely help keep that "island style" alive for me.

Maybe someday concert DVD's will be released. I see Labor Day, big screen TV parties. Six hour long fantasy concerts that will include the length of the regular show and the time it takes to get out of Great Woods when the show ends.
See you Monday & Wednesday!

Strangely I was thinking the same thing today.
I can deal with it as long as 100 years down the road when Jimmy's sailed on, they're not releasing new stuff like 2Pac. Once he's gone, he's gone.

I will dearly miss Jimmy when he is gone, and no one will replace him.
I'm sure I will queue up more Morris, White, and others in his absence but he will never be far from my music tastes.

Quite truthfully. If Jimmy allowed this (which I believe he would have to) the Coral Reefer Band is talented enough to continue on. Think about it, a show you attended where each individual person taking turns and came out and played some of his, there's or whatever for 2 1/2 hours with the backing of the rest of the band
I'd love to see Mac, Peter, Robert, Ralph, Amy.. etc play up front some of their own and Jimmy's material with the rest of that talented band backing them.

Sort of like what the Grateful Dead (The Other Ones) have done.

As long as Heather and Louisa (or Jules) are still around.

..... a very interesting question! I agree, no one can simply "replace" Jimmy Buffett. Jimmy is a cultural icon. He cannot be replaced the same way that Jerry Garcia could not be replaced. My guess is that a band, or artist, that has a simialiar love for the things Mr. Buffett loves, will have some sort of following and begin a journey like Jimmy did for all his parrotheads. It's kind of like what happend with Phish and the Greatful Dead- Phish did not "replace" The Dead, but amassed a cult-like following with its music and live shows.
