Is Division 1aa really even football?
I don't know... it's better than being door mats in 1A, and it hasn't been all that long since ID was playing 1AA
If you insult me again by calling me a Vandal, I will search you out and kill you.
My alma mater has been in the top 20 3 years running.

alma mater?

Dude... I just speak from my own personal experience dealing with the waters off both coast of Northern Florida - the topic at hand and the subject matter (FL Shark Attacks) was the basis for my statement and was in reference to Florida waters... I would never speak on the conditions of other Atlantic coastlines such as the Jersey Shore or the Carolinas for example because I have limited expererience there.
BUT if comparing both of Floridas Northern coastlines... yes, on any given day - the Panhandle and Gulf waters are going to have greater visibility...
Guess I should've been more specific as to the areas I was referring to... Sorry
But it was a lighthearted comment in passing at best

I live on the beach..and June can be very bad!
My daughter got stung by a Portugese Man-of-War when she was 4??
She had almost stopped breathing by the time I got her to the hospital....IV's for 12 hours just to get her normal again..She liked the pretty colors and thought it was a balloon.....It was really scary....
I forgot about the towel she was wrapped in and left it on the deck outside.....TWO weeks later? I picked it up and was dusting off some stuff on the deck...and all of a sudden my hand started stinging...and turned red!
Two weeks later!
Be careful out there...It doesn't keep me away from it...but I am careful....

Are you naming off all of the western schools that have a stronger athletic program and better academics than the Montana State Kitties?
If so, we may be here all night.

The Undergrad degree was from MSU. The Grad is from UM. and that makes three 3 national titles in 20 years.

It is ok did not mean to sound rough or gruff....There is no disputing that the Panhandle and the Gulf side is usually clearer and whatnot.....but on the east coast of Fla.... there are places that can be as equally clear....say maybe around St.Augustine or around Daytona or further south and places further up the seaboard as you mentioned.
But you can clearly see the sharks from above and that is no joke
BTW I was born on the panhandle, not to far from Destin and my Dad used to fish the Deep Sea Rodeo there many years ago.

No dude, no worries...
I didnt mean to speak in such broad statements... yeah, I was speaking mainly from a "in the water" viewpoint as well...
Nice waters around St. Augustine... We never had much luck around Daytona... unfortunately, that's where we tended to spend Sunday afternoons - I've asked my mom before why we didnt spend as much time over in the Clearwater area - she said Daytona was where the waves were and I enjoyed them... last time I was in Daytona was passing through from St. Augustine to Orlando 5 yrs ago... they really need to cut out the parking/driving ON the beach... but I suppose it's such a revenue source for the county
We've only been spending time in Destin for about 15yrs now... I sure miss the way it was before the hurricane ripped through in the mid-'90's and opened up Old 98 to the condo commandos...and the growth since then
thats awesome you got to grow up in that area... so you knew it when it was still a sleepy lil fishing village...
Destin is one of the 2 areas of Florida I'm considering with a potential move back... either there or the Keys... who knows where I'll end up... as long as I get back to the state - I think I'll be happy

Nice to meetcha!
I was only in Destin a couple of years but Dad would go back and fish in "The Rodeo" almost every year.Dad was in the Navy nearby there ( that give you any idea how long ago it was? LOL ( Mom and Dad would kid about those years before they passed...You know that saying about hubbies "being in the doghouse"... well my Dad waswent to the fish house" LOL) He spent alot time fishing when not working. People would tell him to bring them back some fish and he would call them and let them know he some fichand they would ask if they were cleaned and he said no I only clean my own... they wouldn't take them. He could not even sell snapper or grouper for $00.10 a pound....alot of the fish ended up in the flower garden. He caught a deepwater hammerhead ( the one with the BIG eyes. He said it's eyes were the size of saucers and they estimated it's length around 14 feet. Would not let him ( or anyone in those days) bring it aboard the boat......
I have pretty much always lived along the coast, or on or near the water, other than while in the USAF. My interest is just a hobby. I got my scuba cert back in 79.
It is just a hobby for me is all.
Cheers and Beers, Bro!

Thxz Bro!
You might like to look these sites over,....one is just a link from the other one but thought I would post it anyway.... One tells all about the little that is known of stingrays, and shows a drawing of the barb/ stinger and yes heat is the correct immediate first aid treatment for the stings........
This one has the info on the stingrays and the drawing of the barb/stinger.
http://www.elasmo-research.org/educatio ... y_city.htm
This is the one about the wounds:
http://www.elasmo-research.org/educatio ... _wound.htm
This just goes to reenforce to everyone or make them aware while stingrays are normally docile and gentle can be deadly and they should beaware of the potential risk and danger.
( Though I find the "stingray hickey" amusing. How do you explain THAT one to your spouse or better half? Like they will believe it? well it is usually on the arm .....LOL)

yep and where were the parents ?
THANK YOU!!! This is what I've been thinking all along...and now a boy has been attacked 80 miles away and lost his leg....tragic. Not that Mom being right there could have stopped a shark but no one has mentioned where her, or his parents were.
Some here have suggested the bar...
And No... there's prolly nothing they could have done from the shore except never allowed the girls to go out that far in the first place... hmm... there's a thought... why didnt they think of that???
we know the parents in charge have to be mortified over this... BUT if it had been one of my girls in their care... I would be asking these same questions... and wanting these same answers... only, I wouldnt be this nice about it
You got that right!
