You had Optimus Prime??? You lucky bastid. Must be nice to have parents that love you...
Wasn't that like the gazillion doller Transformer?

Which were cooler, Transformers or GoBots?

I was just content playing with my Cabbage Patch Doll. My mom tried to make me one instead of buy me one, and I got all sort of p***.

They do. I have pictures. Really.

They have fake battles, too.
there just so many wrong things I could say here...

I said many of them when I was there. Unfortunately, I was a walking female, so I was sort of an enigma there to begin with it didn't matter what I said.
oh. ok.

what the heck.

So... because he's actually married to a real girl, do the other "fans" consider you two royalty? :D
Like you have no idea. He is because of his collection, and I am because I actually let him take up the room with them, and I don't complain, AND I'm not repulsive!

GoBots were fine - if you didn't mind getting your ass kicked every day after school.

I can't say the 80s music was that bad
There's an 80s radio station here in Jax that's prolly my fave.
My fave 80s song is "Abracadabra".
And a lot of my favorite country is from the 80s from Alabama (first concert), Hank Jr, Ronnie Milsap, Juice Newton, Oak Ridge Boys, etc

Transformers. GoBots will get your ass kicked in my house. (which just means I go around saying gobots are way cooler)

Some day I'll retire on Transformers. I will. I'm going to move to an island off that money......

Are they still worth money? I remember when I would go to collectible shows and the slightest difference in a tail color meant the difference between 3.00 and 300.

Neither, I was too busy with toys that were actually fun.

I have no idea. She has some rare ones.

My SFIL actually sold them at the height of the mania and made quite a bit of money. We have a few of the really, really rare ones. The other ones, we just let the kids play with. I have a hard time not letting kids play with toys because parents are greedy.

We do have "Garcia" which was a limited edition. Production was stopped for copyright infringement or something.

Craziness I tell ya.

Cue velvet-voiced announcer guy:

"and in the corner of every 'bot fan, a little glimmer of hope was fanned that someday, he too could find a girl, a non-repulsive girl, who would let him play with his toys in peace in a room of his own... "

Cue happy sunset slide

Cue happy music.

I remember I thought that Sheena Easton was hot.
Remember Strut , Morning Train, For Your Eyes Only, Sugar Walls or her duet with Prince You've Got The Look?

Speaking of hot 80s chicks. We first got cable in 81 I think.
Grease was on like every day and I fell in love with Olivia Newton John.
It went beyond Grease to Xanadu, Physical, Magic, Twist of Fate, Make A Move on Me, Heart Attack, etc.
Heck to this day just thinking of her bach then almost produces wood right there on the spot. Speaking of.... gotta run   ......

Back about 6 years ago, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette had an article regarding something similar. The author wrote it as those who were born after 1981, what they know as things that have always been around to those of us born before hand remember as breakthroughs like the CD player, how VCR's became the mainstay, etc. Very fascinating article.
