My family has ALWAYS been a Ford family (my grandfather even worked at the Ford Motor Company in Detroit and once shook hands with "Uncle Henry" himself), HOWEVER, right now my wife and I own a Buick (G.M.) and a Jeep Grand Cherokee (Chrysler Corp.), but really have no preference as long as whatever it is runs good and is comfortable to drive.
We've owned Fords, Jeeps, Hondas, Nissans, Subarus, and, probably our favorite, Hondas. (The Accord supposedly has, or HAD, the highest customer satisfaction rating of any vehicle). I hope someday to own a Honda Ridgeline, or a Chevy Avalanche.
I guess those A-rabs will love me, right?

That's funny. I'm a Harley guy, but I don't kid myself about them being the most American bike. In fact, the Honda GoldWing has more American Made parts than any HD since the late 50s.

I'm not particular to any one brand. I dislike Dodge though. I had a 2004 Ram 1500 and the AC broke 2 weeks after I got it. After various problems, I got rid of it for my 2004 Tahoe. I LOVE my Tahoe. So having had a 98 Blazer and now a 04 Tahoe, I'd say I like Chevy the best.

But my wife had an 03 Honda Accord and now as an 04 Toyota Camry...both are great cars.

The GoldWing is a motorcycle? I thought it was a car on two wheels.

I didn't know what to consider it! Certainly not a motorcycle. If you want a real touring motorcycle:

As for cars, I drive a Ford Tortoise... I mean... Taurus. I like it because it gets me where I need to go. If I had my car of choice, it would prolly be a Ford Escape.

The GW is certainly not my cup of tea, but the statement that it's a lesser touring bike than the Ultra Classic is short-sighted at best.

BTW - what do you ride?

I don't ride, since I am not 18 yet, however my dad has had many many harleys, the Ultra Classic being my favorite. He has built a few that do about 11 seconds on a quarter mile, but I still like the touring ones. Shows how much of an old man I am 8)

Well, be careful when you do. I started on the dirt when I was 8, on the asphalt at 16.

As for which is a better touring bike, what criteria did you use for this statement?

The GW has more HP and torque
The GW has more braking power
The GW has more storage capacity
The GW gets better fuel milage
The GW has more fuel capacity
The GW has an adjustable suspension, front and rear
The GW has a greater lean angle
The GW has a longer factory warranty

What exactly makes the UC a more capable tourer?

(note: I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here - I'd pick the UC myself, but I've ridden both and I won't kid myself by saying the UC is a better touring bike. Oh yeah, I'm no stranger to building race bikes either - I've turned wrenches on several SCTA (Bonneville) and ECTA LSR record holding bikes.)

Mainly the fact that I have been brainwashed since I was very young  My dad used to sell Harleys, and he is one of those "All-American" types where I would probably be kicked out of the house for buying a foreign car  Or just receive a really long lecture

I rode dirt when I was younger, but there was really nowhere good around here to ride since it is all being developed, so we gave that up. I really miss it though.

Well, at least I got you to admit it  We HD guys are a strange breed - we know (although most won't admit) we can get a better bike cheaper, we just don't care. I'm not sure if I'm just a glutton for punishment, or if I like the challenge.

Good luck when you get back on 2 wheels!

German cars are real good too. I would buy one! Did you go with the regular, Turbo, TDI, or Turbo S?

I voted Ford. I have a Mazda and a Ford Focus. The Focus hasn't given me any trouble yet.

They are good cars, I know a few people who own them. Does Ford still own Mazda?
