The key word here is "we". That doesn't speak at all to the over all viewing audience that was tuned in. If you are that easily distracted by a little make up I hate to think what would have happened if Tammy Faye Baker had put in an appearance.

Im sure most others who arent all that familiar with REM were thinking the same thing as me. Its very reasonable to be distracted by a short bald man wearing blue makeup all across his face. . . dont tell me if u saw someone like that in public u'd wouldn't be distracted!

Come on people just leave michael stipe alone.....he and his bandmates were just trying to do good. i was really annoyed when i read a post about him and it mentioned his sexuality-that has nothing to do with it! the guys in r.e.m. dont mean to annoy you so just leave it!
