Muzik Mafia to perform with Bocephus
Several members of the MuzikMafia will team with Hank Williams Jr. for several tour dates this summer. Big & Rich and Cowboy Troy will play with Williams at Country Thunder on July 23 in Twin Lakes, Wis. In addition, James Otto, Jon Nicholson, Shannon Lawson, Chance, Mista D and painter Rachel Kice will share the stage with Williams in Detroit (July 9), Columbus, Ohio (Aug. 26), Cincinnati (Aug. 27) and Birmingham, Ala. (Sept. 23). "Performing with Hank Williams Jr. is a dream realized," said Otto. "It's an honor to share the stage with an icon that inspired me, Gretchen Wilson, John Rich and many other members of the MuzikMafia family."
The group of performers also appears in this month's GQ as one of the reasons that America is a great country.

I'm sure you're just trying to stir up more sh*t, the only thing you seem to be good at on this board but who is "joenathan"?PHBeerman wrote:I am sure you are way too boring to understand Joenathan.Jahfin wrote:Another sure sign of the impending apocalypse.
As far as Big and Rich teaming with Hank, Jr. I consider that to be entertainment so bad it's on a level with the end of the world. How that makes me boring, I'm not sure but I can only imagine you're sitting right there ready to enlighten us. It's just one person's opinion, no one said you had to agree with it. Now if it was Hank III and the Drive-By Truckers, that definitely would be something worth tuning in for but that's far too risky (not to mention musically challenging) a pairing to possibly ever air on TV so we get the dumbed down version instead, kinda like Hee Haw or The Dukes of Hazzard.

The DBT could not hold a candle to a Bochephus show in my opinion.
And no I've not seen a DBT show or even heard a song but then....who has?
<--- (joke smiley)
Seen Hank twice and still the best live show I've seen, yes even better than Jimmy.
I'm still a little skeptical about him joining with Big and Rich though.
I know it's the new "more hip" Hank Jr, hanging out with Kid Rock and what not but jeez
Hank III has potential and his first 2 country albums are good but his attempted punk stuff is terrible in my opinion..

Just never cared much for Hank, Jr. but I've always been a big Hank, Sr. fan. I also just so happen to think Hank III's stuff is a lot closer in spirit to that of his grandfather's work. If Big and Rich are a barometer of today's country music it's headed straight for the dumper, as if it wasn't there already.

I like them all. But I'm a lover, not a fighterJahfin wrote:Just never cared much for Hank, Jr. but I've always been a big Hank, Sr. fan. Just because I don't care for their "Muzik" doesn't make me a "fighter", I'm just expressing opinion that if Big and Rich are what some people consider the future of country music then we're in for some sad days ahead.spainjane wrote:I like them all. well, then you can just play your old records and you dont have to listen to country, or listen to some sort of alternative . . it seems that you dont like mainstream country anyways, so this is nothing new to youJahfin wrote:Just because I don't care for their "Muzik" doesn't make me a "fighter", I'm just expressing opinion that if Big and Rich are what some people consider the future of country music then we're in for some sad days ahead.spainjane wrote:I like them all. Personally, i think John Rich is a good song writer (he has written songs for many other performers) but i think Big & Rich can only push their image so far . ..
although i think it would be fun to see them live, they seem to be good entertainers
Which is the bottom line with so much "popular" music these days (not just country) which is why the majority of it sucks so bad.DsilCaribe wrote:Jahfin wrote:Just because I don't care for their "Muzik" doesn't make me a "fighter", I'm just expressing opinion that if Big and Rich are what some people consider the future of country music then we're in for some sad days ahead.spainjane wrote:I like them all. Guess it's nice to go around with a selective memory because you've sure as hell got one.DsilCaribe wrote:well, then you can just play your old records and you dont have to listen to country, or listen to some sort of alternative . . it seems that you dont like mainstream country anyways, so this is nothing new to you.

I would be really suprised to see Big & Rich around (at least with their current image) in three or four years. As much as people say that Big & Rich are revolutionizing country music, their CD isn't revolutionizing anything on the charts compared to Gretchen Wilson. The Muzik Mafia should all be very thankful for Gretchen Wilson, because I doubt that they would have ever gotten half the media attention that they have now.
And Jah, not trying to start an argument, just curious, what mainstream country do you like?

Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Rodney Crowell, Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle, Waylon Jennings, Earl Scruggs, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, some Allison Krauss, etc. Not all of these artists recieve the mainstream recognition they once did but they have all occupied that slot at one time or another during their respective careers.Ilph wrote:And Jah, not trying to start an argument, just curious, what mainstream country do you like?

Ah, I was thinking that you enjoyed people of today's mainstream country (Brad Paisley, George Strait, et. al). Aside from Allison Krauss, these names weren't what I was expecting.Jahfin wrote:Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Rodney Crowell, Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle, Waylon Jennings, Earl Scruggs, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, some Allison Krauss, etc. Not all of these artists recieve the mainstream recognition they once did but they have all occupied that slot at one time or another during their respective careers.Ilph wrote:And Jah, not trying to start an argument, just curious, what mainstream country do you like?
I have a higher tolerance for artists such as Strait, Paisley, even Alan Jackson but I don't necessarily consider myself a fan of theirs either. I grew up listening to the likes of Waylon, Willie, David Allan Coe, Cash, Emmylou, Jerry Jeff, Buffett (duh!), John Prine, etc. all of whom challenged the norms set by the Nashville establishment. Unfortunately Nashville's idea of an "outlaw" these days is somebody like Big & Rich or Toby Keith when they're just as manufactured as the majority of other "country" stars out there.Ilph wrote:Ah, I was thinking that you enjoyed people of today's mainstream country (Brad Paisley, George Strait, et. al). Jonathan, when i said mainstream, i was talking about TODAY's mainstream .. .not yesteryears. Allison Krauss is the only one that is popular today.Ilph wrote:Ah, I was thinking that you enjoyed people of today's mainstream country (Brad Paisley, George Strait, et. al). You seemed to have totally ignored my previous response. Since you seem to have such trouble following replies on a messageboard I'll repeat it again here for you:DsilCaribe wrote:Jonathan, when i said mainstream, i was talking about TODAY's mainstream .. .not yesteryears.
