As long as you're in Clearwater, hit up Frenchy's Saltwater Cafe (or Rockaway Grill or Original Frenchy's Cafe) in Clearwater beach. Best damn grouper sandwich on the planet, Buffett in the Jukebox, and plenty of beers to choose from. Be aware though. If you're going to Clearwater right now, there's a red tide about two miles off the beach, and the beach stinks to high heaven right now. (Frenchy's Salt Water is far enough from the beach that you can sit outside without coming in contact with the odor.)
Also, Beware of Scientologist recruiters, should you go downtown. They're easy to spot, they wear uniforms.

Also go to "Cooters" another good spot for grouper and beer.
My wife and I vacationed there and we did eat at Rockaway and Frenchy's and it was fantastic. "Rockaway" & "Cooters" turned out to be my two favorite spots. They both are very Buffett friendly, when you open the door to Cooters it had a street sign that read Jimmy Buffett Blvd...I knew I was in the right spot.

No way to be certain when the red tide will move on or dissipate. I think there is a website that serves a a gulf coast red tide watch. Google "red tide" florida, and you'll probably find the info your looking for.INKED PARROTHEAD wrote:Thanks for the tips, been to Frenchys before. How long does that red tide last Im not headed that way til end of July?Cooters sounds like a place I would be happy at!

There is a Bob Marley place just up from Margi-ville that looked interesting. Unfortunately it was closed when we were there.
Now if you are interested in taking a little road trip to Cocoa Beach, there is this Tiki Bar out on the end of this pier. The view of the moon on the water with the waves rolling in was fantastic. The margaritas were'nt bad either.

Been there also I had lunch on the pier. My wife was on a Medic Convention in Orlando and I went along for a good time. I rented a car at the hotel and drove to CoCoa Beach for the day and found the bar that was on the pier ( it may or may not be same one you speak of) but it was a good spot and a helluva view. I had a mushroom cheeseburger and 4 or 5 beers. Good spot!

Doesn't matter if it was the same one, just that it was the one.
I called it the Tiki Bar at the end of the world.
As the saying goes, a good time was had by all!
Now that I think of it, there was a big mural on the side of a building just inland of the pier. You walked out through several restaurants then hit the end of the pier which terminated in the Tiki bar. It was kind of a local relic, built back in the '50s and updated periodically. I may have picture of it somewhere. If I can find it I'll post it for you.
