Rumors of Alpine's demise...

Post by ernste40 »

Helo-

I just stumbled upon a thread on a DMB Web board (http://www.nancies.org/boards/showthrea ... 1678287956) that talks of local rumors in the East Troy area about this summer's dismal schedule possibly resulting in the selling and demolition of Alpine Valley's amphitheater to build a golf course, condos, etc.

Now, I know that the posting on the other site is unsubstantiated, but I wanted to post here to see if any of the Parrot Heads with closer ties to the venue and the East Troy area might know any more about this story or have information that can squash these ugly rumors.

But, if it comes true, what a miserable year for Buffett to skip Alpine!

Buffett didn't play Alpine this year? Funny, I don't remember anyone here mentioning that...

I saw one post about it here during the discussions during one of the concert broadcasts very recently, but then there were no further comments so I kind of forgot about it.

Took me a while to find it, but here it is:

Well, if it is true, can you imagine the new level of whining that will happen?
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Alpine Vally in East Troy Wisconsin is possibly closing its gates after this season due to low amount of concerts in the past few years.

Doesn't surprise me tho... They haven't really been putting any money into the upkeep on the facilities.

He starts with the Original Coral Reefer Band on stage at Alpine, when he departs, Club Trini and Scotch do a few sets, and Mac does a couple, then the current lineup of the CRB and Jimmy finish the show.

Rumour has it that Fingers won't be with either group, but he will be playing the Snow Palace in MKE that night. :D

I know. The original post on the DMB board mentioned an extra 9 hole expansion to the existing course ...
