What is Key West going to look like next weekend?

We are leaving for Key West next Saturday and worried some things will be damaged/closed after Dennis passes by. Anyone been down there right after a hurricane? I just hope Dennis heads west and not east before tomorrow.

Yeah I made it there between Ivan and Charlie last year. I stayed at the Wyndham Casa Marina and I remember that the beach wasn't very useful becuase there was a lot of SMELLY seaweed washed up on the beach. Other than that, everything was normal. Unless Dennis takes a hard right turn, the Weather Channel says that KW will JUST miss KW and it won't take the worst of it. Have Phun!

I'm leaving on the 20th and hoping to squeeze in between storms.

It is impossible to tell until the hurricane hits. Right now it is going to be close with Dennis...it may pass over the Dry Tortugas, but KW might get the worst of it (the NE quadrant).

FWIW, there is another potential storm brewing in the Atlantic that you should keep an eye on....

even if it is a bit "messed up" keywesterners carry on - I remember seeing pics of them still sitting in the bars just before the storms hit

KW lost some trees and had some minor flooding...nothing serious.

However, keep an eye on soon-to-be Emily, which may be headed for S. FL. next week.

Every time I turned on the tv to check out the hurricane footage, I was waiting for hte clips of Key west (which they showed plenty)....Just kept saying, "please don't be F'd up".....Dennis let KW off easy....I hope Emily avoids it all together.....it best not screw up my vacation
