Harry Potter Release

I work at Barnes and Noble and we have been busy getting ready for the 6th Harry Potter release. I am wondering how many people will buy it and read it. I think just our store has over 2000 reservations already. I, myself, have never read them but I have to work the Harry Potter party the night before they come out. Should be interesting!

I have a 13-year-old son. We are not fanatics, but he does have a Harry Potter-themed bedroom: bedspread, castle wallpaper, light switches, etc.

We may not buy it the first day, but we'll buy it. We've read all the others. Wonderful imagery and great stories, too. Ideal heroes and heroines for preteens.

I have a 13-year-old home-schooled nephew, recently adopted from Turkey, coming to visit for the week ahead. We've been instructed by his Southern Baptist adoptive mom not to allow any talk of "wizards" in the home. Yeah, right! (But they go see Star Wars movies, with its talk of the force. What's the diff? :-?)

The character whose books forced the New York Times to create a "children's fiction" category of topsellers because the authors of the other titles whined about not getting any exposure. :P :D :D

Go Harry! It's your birthday!

And for this, we should be thankful.

I'll admit it, I'm an adult who loves Harry Potter. Not enough to go to a midnight party or stand in line or dress up like a wizard. But i"ve read all of the books and seen all of the movies. I"m looking forward to the new release. If you haven't read them I"d recommend it. They don't feel like children's books. They just read like a well written book.

Stephen King reads them and likes them... so,

you're in good company.

I'm with you....not an over the top fanatic, but I enjoy these flights of fantasy......Hmmmm perhaps why I'm a parrothead too.....
Anyway in our house I read to my kids (11yo son and twin 9yo daughters) before bed every night (Yes Every Night!!!). We have read all of Harry potters adventure and are excited about book 6.

Should you be in need of similar books to get your kids (or yourself) interested try the Pendragon Series by DJ Mchale...... also very good reading.....
