Tailgating in Cinci?
Its been a while since I've been to the Riverbend show, and we used to party at Riverdowns before the show. Now somebody tells me that they no longer allow this?! Say it ain't so!
Ive recently been re-planted in the Buckeye state and remember Cinci as the best tailgating anywhere. Where can I go to imbibe and socialize before showtime? I appreciate any info I can get.

Best Tailgating Anywhere????????????????
I did Cinci last year, there are places on web that will try to RENT you a spot a couple blocks away, don't bother. Get there earlier, and across the street are a couple gravel / grass areas they let you set up. The earlier arrivbal people are the serious Parrotheads (that would be me) and the tour buses while the later ones are in a nice big grassy area, pretty but also pretty far away to the East, and the feel is very suburban-picnic, not Buffett Party.
And for a decent tailgate, don't even think of comparing Cinci (as it is today) with Alpine Valley, which even in a pouring rain after 2 days packs in more people, more grills, more palm trees, sand, water, and crazy @ss Parrotheads than you can shake a coconut at.

Thank you Sholleran
Great info. Thanks!
We'll be there as early as we can. No RV but the old red Jeep will be filled with all the proper supplies we can stuff it with.
I'll have to try Alpine Valley sometime, sounds like phun. But Cincy as I recall it from years past was better and wilder than anywhere I've been, including Atlanta. Regardless, we will have a great time, we always do.
Hope to see ya there.

early?
Early was a deliberately vague choice of term. If you're into a schedule, you ain't my kind of parrothead. But if you must know, early by any Buffett definition would be anytime before noon.citcat wrote:And precisely what time is early? After the Beganniversary party the night before, early is a very scary word.

For instance, at Alpine, early is legally 3pm - county ordinance prohibits admission prior to 5 hours before the show . . . . but the Parrots in the know are there about noon, so the state police can force the parking lot open at 1pm, overridding the county ordinance in the interest of public safety to clear the interstate exit ramp.
It's all a matter of perspective.

Early?!
Early is a very relative term. How about as early as the parking lot opens. Or maybe at the crack of noon.citcat wrote:And precisely what time is early? After the Beganniversary party the night before, early is a very scary word.
