I would be a lot more useful if they had better satellite images. In many areas, you can't zoom in too close. The areas with the better resolution images are great though

I think it would also be a lot better if I could open it.
I keep getting this error message:
"Google Earth has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Stories all over the news shows this morning about US soldiers in Iraq who have discovered that their bases are accessible here (though one report said the picture was about a year old)--if the security issue remains a concern, it will be interesting to see if google chooses to shut this down.

Yeah, I took a look at my old base (Holloman AFB, New Mexico) but couldn't really see it very clearly... I wondered if it was just because it's in the middle of the desert or if the image was blurry intentionally.

The imagery is from several sources shot over several years at different pixel sizes (bigger the pixel-fuzzier the image). Cities usually have the sharpest imagery cause they can make money selling em to developers, planners, bureaucrats, other wankers...Rural areas don't have the same resolution cause they won't generate $$ for the commercial satellite companies and the sharper the image the bigger the file gets-geometrically.
Thus goeth the Remote Sensing class for today.

Stop asking for Heather's address and going "hybrid". Larry and Cap'n Morgan are using up all the bandwidth for that particular site/sight..
