Miami Vice Movie (2006)

Post by DeactiveCarib »

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0430357/

I've known about this for a while but i havent seen a thread about it here, so ill start one.

It's starring Collin Farrell as Crockett and Jamie Foxx as Tubbs. Directed by Michael Mann.

Filming began a few weeks ago. They had to close I-95 in Miami for a few days for filming.

http://www.miami-vice.org has tons of articles and good information in their forums

Unfortunatley, Michael Mann has decided not to bring back the pastel suits that Miami Vice was known for. . .dang, i was really hoping those would come back in style!! :(

This movie is projected to give Miami another "comeback" (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/ ... -headlines), sort of what it did for Miami back in the 80s. It is projected to pump about $30 million into Miami's economy.

I still love the old tv show. It's so classic and cheesy. :)

I'm still waiting for season 2 to come out on DVD.

I've rarely noticed any cheesy miami vice moments. . . maybe Jan Hammer's music could sometimes be a bit cheesy, but overall it was IMO the best produced show ever.

I cant wait for season 2 to come out. I was too young to appreciate the show when it was on TV so ive been living off of reruns and the DVD

yea like making the HONEYMOONERS all black.. what morons thought THAT would work. Did they not realize that the Honeymooners core fan base range from about 40 to 60 and are WHITE and of that probably mostly white males.

Ummmm.... what is the point of Crockett and Tubbs without the suits and boat shoes??? :o
THAT was a bad decision for the film in my book... since that WAS the image of the original Miami Vice 20 yrs ago - It's like Daisy Duke without the camel toe denim cut-offs, whats the point  :-?

well, thats what Mann has said for now. What i hear is that they are using the 2005/2006 Versace line, which i hear has a lot of Pastels so it doesn't make too much sense. . .we'll just have to wait and see

I believe what Wayne is wondering is... whether or not he should feel guilty about the dirty thoughts he has regarding Ann...

Wayne, In my state you have nothing to worry about, it's readily accepted in many areas much like our Mississippi cousins to the West... Unfortunately, in The Land Of Morm where your from... your gonna burn in hell with a goat slowly licking salt off your nads to remove the skin layer by layer over time :D

You seem to be the most knowledgable one around here on the ole Vice squad... Do you know if they tried to get Don Johnson to play his old role...

Seems like he is still in shape enough to pull it off - well, at least the last time I saw any news about him...

Oh... in that case... carry on

I seriously would've like to have seen Don Johnson in the role... but I'm sentimental like that... good gradeschool memories from the mid-80s

To the best of my knowledge, Don Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas have no affiliation with the movie. For some reason Michael Mann doesn't want this to be too much like the Miami Vice of the 80s, i guess he's trying to make it the Miami Vice for the new generation. Plus, the movie will take place in modern times, not the 80s. I REALLY hope they bring the pastels back though

according to someone who is a cameraman for both the Miami Vice TV show and the movie, there will be no cameos

Don Johnson didn't age so well, and he's gotten kinda fat. It would be very wierd to see him playing Crockett nowadays, and plus he seems to disassociate himself with MV these days
