John Mayer Soundstage on PBS...

...rocks!! He seems to be a formidable guitarist, with a bluesy sound that reminds me of SRV. Buddy Guy joins him on stage for a couple songs too, to the delight of the audience, and this viewer.
His facial expressions are still very bizarre, but that seems par for the course for many guitarists, including brothers Mayer in the CRB, when they're "feeling it".
I give him 2 thumbs up!
(Now I know why I'm not a music critic!

It's my understanding that there's no relation between John Mayer and the Mayer brothers from Buffett's band.

I have the same understanding... I meant "brothers Mayer" as Jim and Peter, not John's brothers, but I could see how it could be misconstrued. I thought brothers Mayer sounded better than the Mayer brothers. I knew what I meant, I just didn't express it effectively!

His manager/publicist recently put word out the John Mayer trio will be performing in many small venues in the coming months. Will be as quaint as a couple of thousand fans or less can be. Check out the schedule here.

My gf is a nut for him. I'm trying to score VIP tix to one of the shows as a surprise. Fingers crossed.
