Counting my blessings! Round two.

I have plenty to be thankful for, and I remind myself of that regularly, and try not to take things for granted.

But today, I had what could be considered a "close call" in my happy existance. My husband starts work at 2am in a crime-ridden area, and someone shot at him on his way to work. It wasn't a bullet, rather some sort of large pellet. Fortunately they hit the passenger door behind him leaving a very deep dent, instead of him through his open window.

Make sure you hug and kiss your loved ones every day, because you never know.

Ouch.... Glad to hear hubby's ok....

I try not to take people close to me for granted.... You never know when they won't be there anymore.....

9/11 really made me realize this... I lost several family members who were in FDNY... My entire family are firefighters... So I have been so much more conscious of the fact that it's a high risk job. And my father got hurt on the job back in may and it was quite a scare... He was lucky to only have a broken leg....

But it's true... You should never take anyone for granted!

Sounds like his Guardian Angel was with him, and working overtime that morning. Thank God he is safe, and the damage was only minor to the car and that he is safe.....Don't know what kind of car it was ... but contrary to popular beliefs... while alot of bullets will do so, not all bullets will penetrate a car body...Then again it may have come from a "pocket rocket" type slingshot.

You are so veery RIGHT in hugging and kissing and telling your loved ones....evry chance you get...something people really do seem to take for granted...they can always tell them later...until something happens, such as this event, to make them realize life can be and is more fleeting than we really care to admit. I have "lost" more people than I care to count... Many of you remember what I went through last year..."when God calls your or their number"...there is no arguing or questioning...that one's time is up and there never will be another chance to hold them in your arms or tell them. Make every moment with them special and memorable as possible. I know that sounds sappy... but you will understand it really isn't, AFTER you have lost someone. The things you would not hesitate to give or trade, to have the chance to do so one last time with them....

wise words to live by

I love you is always the last thing that we say to each other before bed and whenever Marie and I talk on the phone

I also believe that even if you are not happy with someone that
you care for, never part ways with hurtful words because there
is always a possibility that that could be the last time you speak
to them.

JoAnn....am still trying to catch my breath after reading your post....

We really never know what the day holds.

Our family never says good-bye without saying "I love you."

We just never know.

Am glad Mr. TB's guardian angels were riding with him.....

Better days.

Damn... another somewhat "close call"... and I finally stopped shaking. :o

I was out picking up a building permit while this big storm was brewing... on my way back, the skies were as dark as night. I was stuck in a line of traffic on the highway a couple blocks from work, when the wind became fierce, and it just didn't look "right". I turned into the neighborhood to avoid the traffic, and drove through a barrage of flying debris, and large and small branches bouncing off the minivan, and made it to my office. (I think I was actually ducking, like that would help.) I've never seen a tornado, but it sure "felt" and looked like what I've seen on tv.

I got into my office, where my co-worker was in the back under cover because he had never seen the sign bend like that, and the clouds looked like a funnel to him. Shortly after, a ton of police, fire, and rescue were going by in various directions.

Now that the skies are sunny again, there are a bunch of uprooted and downed trees nearby... one path going right through the area on the highway just after I turned off! I'm curious to see reports on it. No tornado sirens went off, so they'll probably call them "microbursts" to cover their asses.

On the homefront, all was well, except that the doors were blown off the shed. Hubby looked out back after seeing our tree in front bending way over.
Scary! :o
