Next time you get some money burning a hole in your pocket, give me a call. Or you can just send it to me if you want - no need to ask permission

Dont worry... you wont make that mistake again...

Since you wont have any money to spare with the fuel cost that will accompany that   :P

Congrats on your new addition!! I added a '05 Suburban to our driveway 2 weeks ago! Same color as yours. Everyone says it is a CIA vehicle.

Actually the fuel costs are going to be pale in comparison to the repair costs of those things.

Have you ever heard the following phrase?

"Those British vehicles sure are reliable"

I do like the looks of them though.

No kidding, especially since it takes premium gas. :-?

The change of heart came from the fact that I'll be leaving my job soon. Seeing as how the Jeep is a company car it won't be coming along with me. I had been looking at older (97-98) BMWs, however every time I found one in my price range it sold before I could get all the paperwork done.

I know and that was a serious point of contention with me. However, this one came at a price below wholesale so it will give me something to toy around in for a year or so.

I sure hope you bought it with the optional mechanic. Cause those things never run.
Beerman is right...No such thing as a well running British auto. They look great, run like s***.
We have game we play when one comes in as a trade. It's called guess the problem by the color puddle it left on the ground.

I wish, but I'm moving the opposite way on 85. Heading down to Auburn until Elizabeth finishes Vet school.

Well that'll prolly work out good for the two of you.... plus, you'll only be 2 hrs from a beach.... well... hour and a half the way we drive... even more reason to have a convertible 8)

How can you tell when a British car is out of oil?

It stops dripping.

I realize British vehicles no longer utilize Lucas Electrics, but anyone who has ever suffered with the Curse of Lucas on older Brit cars and bikes should appreciate the following:

A collection of Prince of Darkness jokes.

The Lucas motto: "Get home before dark."

Lucas denies having invented darkness. But they still claim "sudden, unexpected darkness"

Lucas--inventor of the first intermittent wiper.

Lucas--inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.

The three-position Lucas switch--DIM, FLICKER and OFF. The other three switch settings--SMOKE, SMOLDER and IGNITE.

The original anti-theft devices--Lucas Electric products.

"I've had a Lucas pacemaker for years and have never experienced any prob...

If Lucas made guns, wars would not start either

Did you hear about the Lucas powered torpedo? It sank.

It's not true that Lucas, in 1947, tried to get Parliament to repeal Ohm's Law. They withdrew their efforts when they met too much resistance.

Did you hear the one about the guy that peeked into a Land Rover and asked the owner "How can you tell one switch from another at night, since they all look the same?" "He replied, it doesn't matter which one you use, nothing happens!"

Back in the '70s Lucas decided to diversify its product line and
began manufacturing vacuum cleaners. It was the only product they offered which didn't s***.

Quality Assurance phoned and advised the Engineering guy that they had trouble with his design shorting out. So he made the wires longer.

Why do the English drink warm beer? Lucas made the refrigerators, too.

Alexander Graham Bell invented the Telephone.
Thomas Edison invented the Light Bulb.
Joseph Lucas invented the Short Circuit.

Recommended procedure before taking on a repair of Lucas equipment: check the position of the stars, kill a chicken and walk three times sunwise around your car chanting: "Oh mighty Prince of Darkness protect your unworthy servant."

Lucas systems actually uses AC current; it just has a random
frequency.

Congrats on the new arrival, J! As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. :)

Just an observation/question: Is ATL the unofficial Land Rover capital of the world? I swear I have never seen as many Land Rovers as I have all the times I've been there. I started counting them at one of the intersections one day and gave up when I lost count...or ran out of fingers and toes, one or the other.  I've never seen as many in Cali as I have in ATL.

People in ATL like to think that we can take on the elements even though our city is flat. Wait until the roads ice over. Its the most expensive pile up you've ever seen.

Hmmm, then all the Land Rovers who come along after the pileup should have no problem just crawling up and over the carnage.
