HELP!!!! not sure what to do..
India wants/needs me to stay longer.. They asked for me to stay for another 8 weeks and my exact response was "Hell no!". I have no damn clue what to do and told them I would give them an answer in the morning. I have way too much going on at the end of August and would need to be home on the 22nd. I won't lie I was definitely looking forward to coming home on 8/3 as this place is starting to wear on me.. What's everyone else's thoughts?

#1 Will staying enhance your position in any way?
#2 Can you arrange to come home for say 2 weeks @ the end of August?
OR can you stay 3 more weeks as opposed to 8?
#3 Will leaving at the scheduled time hamper your job security?
Now.. make the Ben Franklin list.... PROS / CONS and make a logical decision (This suggestion belongs on the Mother's advice thread!!!
)
Good Luck. You will make the right choice.

It all depends on what it will mean to your career. If you staying longer will earn you major points then you've got some thinking to do.
As someone stated earlier see if they are willing to let you come home for a week or two at the end of Aug.
If they won't help you in any way make up something about non-refundable plans that you'll have to cancel and make them pay for your pain! Maybe enough to pay for a trip to Vegas in late Oct.?!:pirate:
The last line is a semi joke.
You've got to trust me on this one. In a few years you will look back at this "adventure" and wish you could do something like this again. It's only a few more weeks in a long life.

#2 - Are you flippin' kidding me?!!? there is no way in hell that I am traveling home and all the way back out here a few weeks later... They can kiss that one goodbye. They're trying to get me to stay for two now..
#3 - Not at all... and if it does then I don't want to be working for this company.

I'm just sooooooooo ready to come home.. ask Jason he'll tell you.. last night I was so excited that in two weeks I'd be home... I know it's been an experience of a lifetime but I'm not sure I want to experience it anymore..
Now if this were Australia or somewhere like that heck put me up for a year! Ohh and if they could send me out a big @$$ steak, some milk, my bed, a good beer (several cases!) and Jason then I'd be all for it!! I hate when I have to make these type of decisions..

If you're not willing to give those up then your question is moot.HsvParrothead wrote:Seems like you already made your decision on your own... now tell THEMMA_Buffett_Fan23 wrote:hence why I need to be home by the 22nd!!! Remember, you're asking for advice and opinions here, but the only one this affects is YOU. We don't know your job or your employer. I know you don't want to miss seeing Jimmy but that isn't the end of the world. And your other trip *can* be rescheduled. What you have to decide is what is worth more and what you'll regret more...possible career enhancement (especially if others aren't willing to stay) and travel opportunities that you may never get again vs coming home and doing things you will be able to do again. You are the only one who can make that choice.

Very nicely put BEG... and I hate to throw out the age factor.... but life teaches you to look past the now.... Something you do not know in your twenties... although like others I thought I did!Brown Eyed Girl wrote: Remember, you're asking for advice and opinions here, but the only one this affects is YOU. 1st off Christina , the Sox won!!!
Are you going through Sox withdrawals yet?
personally , i would get out ASAP. If you don't stay, and the company does something with you negative. They don't appreciate you going over in the 1st place and doesn't respect you as a employee.
If your willing , can you compromise and stay for 2-3-4 weeks more?
if you stay 8 more weeks , then they may ask for 4 more weeks and so on and so on.

Thanks for the advice BEG!
me not staying won't hurt my career as my manager already new that I had prior commitments in August. I may be willing to stay up until 8/21 but after that I'm on the first plane home... It's just very, very hard here... this is definitely not america and makes me appreciate everything I have back home. Seeing the things I see everyday kind of wears you down and makes you want to cry.. looks like tonight is going to be another sleepless night.. as I'll have way too much on my mind..

and hell yeah, I was having withdrawals my first day!!
tomorrow morning I'll know if I'll be willing to compromise, I need to talk with a few people and determine if I can really handle being over here for another two weeks.
