Oh say can you see, by th- I mean- Nibblin on spongecake, watchin the sun bake...
It's the national anthem of Margaritaville, it'd be unpatriotic not to!

I used to think it was just the anthem but, I'm going through some break up stuff right now. The song has a whole new meaning to me.

Same exact thing happens to me!! It's a musical masterpiece!! Better than any Bach or Beethoven I've listened to!!!

That this song has a life of it's own outside the Buffett realm by receiving airplay nearly as often as when it first debuted almost 30 years ago pretty much speaks for itself. It's that rarest of achievements for any artist, to have one of their pieces of work become such a timeless classic.
There's also the flip side of the coin others have mentioned. I've heard this song performed in a slow burn fashion where the emphasis was on the words, not the escapist mindset it's come to represent. I believe that to be another of Buffett's gifts as a tunesmith, the ability to take a sad song and make it better, yet another reason I believe "Margaritaville" continues to stand the test of time. Yeah, and it's fun to drink to.

HONESTLY... unless I'm AT a concert... I skip right over it in the many "collection" albums or the CILCIA album itself... I've heard it too many times in too many versions.... I'm kinda burned on it... so in hopes of trying not to resort to hating it... I avoid it at all cost until the shows themselves
I marked a simple "I like it"

Just looking for my lost shaker of salt. Some people claim there's a woman to blame, but I know. It's my own damn fault.
