I will agree w/ you there. After getting hit quite a lot last year, he got skittish at times. Although there were games where he got hammered and still got up and just kicked some butt. His consistency from game to game kinda worries me, but I think that was largely due to Zaun changing his mechanics early on....Meyer's first task here was to correct Leak's mechanics, which he has done. I do like that Meyer runs out of the shotgun more. We also have what has been billed as possibly one of the top offensive lines in the country. We return all our starters and a couple of the freshman from last year gained a ton of good experience. Hopefully Meyer's scheme will be able to spread the field enough to keep your LB's back. If he tries too much short game and lets the LB's close in, we could be in trouble
I think Meyer will have success, but I think they will be a much better team later in the season. I have to say that I believe we have better talent and more experience this year. However, if we can't execute a simple center-qb exchange ala 2002, we won't stand a chance home or away. Should be one hell of a game.

I'm starting to get fired up. Here is a link to today's Tennessee practice highlights video. They ended the day with the Tennessee Drill (I'm sure that different teams have different names).

Warning: This takes a while to load, but Vols fans & football fans in general will enjoy

ESPN aired a thing tonight called "Under the Lights" about Meyer and Florida. I was very impressed. I'm really happy that this guy is in the SEC now, but a little worried about playing him here on out. He's a class act, no doubt about that!

Hello football fans. Glad its almost time for the season to begin. I am looking forward to the start of the season and having Spurrier as the coach. But I am not one of those Gamecock fans that thinks he is going to take us to a championship in his first couple of years. Its going to take time and after all the crap we went through over the summer, I would be happy with 7-4.

Bob Roberts, got my tickets to the UT vs USC game today. Been to Knoxville once that was two years ago. Looking forward to visting again. Even though my tickets are up KK. Looking forward to a fun time.

Hey SC, glad to hear you're coming to Knoxville. Its a great town, especially on a Big Orange Saturday. I can't imagine how loud its gonna be when Spurrier enters the stadium. People want his blood around here.

CSS reran the UT-FL game from last year. It was so good to see Wilhoit get redemption and nail that 50-yarder. I looked for the so-called "bad calls" and stuff, but really didn't see many. It was called pretty even in my opinion. I know the clock was supposed to keep running after the penalty was called, but we would have still had enough time to call a timeout and kick the field goal. Dallas Baker's personal foul is what killed Florida. That was just stupid! I doubt with the arrival of Meyer that we will see as much of that anymore. I can't wait until September!

You may have had enough time to get down the field and get the field goal, but you would have had a lot less time. It's not like 2 or 3 seconds came off the clock...it was more like 20 seconds. That made a big difference....still, Zook and his damn prevent D should have stopped Ainge.

As for the Baker foul...that's what should be absent under Meyer. Zook ahd no discipline and we had WAY too many personal fouls, it was ridiculous. That is absolutely what killed us. However, there is no doubt that any other official in the NCAA would have called off-setting personal fouls. It was very clear, dead in front of the refs face, that the UT guy retaliated and slapped Baker. 2 incredibly bad officiating moves blew it. Baker never should have slapped the guy, but if the refs had done their job, it wouldn't have cost us the game.

Yeah we all know how much other teams want to kick the crap out of us cause of Spurrier. But hopefully in a few years he can have us where he took UF. By the way, we are having trouble finding a hotel near campus. Any suggestions?. We stayed at the Days Inn two years ago on campus but they are under renovations so now we are stuck and cant find anything. Thanks for any help you can give

I know most of the talk as far as college football, usually settles around the SEC, BIG12 & Pac10. But don't sleep on a little team from the MWC this year. UW is returning 19 of 22 starters on the offense and defense. This is a team that went 7-4 last year along with a win in a bowl game against UCLA. They could be this year's Utah. Their toughest game by far is their first one...at Florida :o I hope they play the way they are capable and make it a great game.

GO POKES!

I think Spurrier will take you guys to the next level. Everything is set up. South Carolina always produces a ton of talent and the fan support is phenomenal. I still think that you are 3 years from playing for the East, but it will come.

I agree with you. He needs sometime to get more of his type of players in. He had a very good recruiting class this year, and it is shaping up like it could be an even better one next. I give us 3 years till we will be going for the East. But I do know till than, it will be a fun ride.

I was just saying not to forget them... since Florida State joined...10 or so years ago, the level of the football teams came up tremendously.
