I remember when Ray was out, everyone who had seen stuff from Walk the Line said it's as good if not better than Ray. So here's hoping.

Phoenix, Witherspoon In Tune On 'Walk The Line'

Actors Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon take to the mic for the T Bone-Burnett-produced soundtrack to the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line," due Nov. 15 via Wind-Up Records. As previously reported, Phoenix portrays late music icon Cash in the movie, while Witherspoon plays his wife, June Carter Cash.

Phoenix has recorded such Cash standards as "Ring of Fire," "I Walk the Line" and "Folsom Prison Blues," and joins Witherspoon for duets on "It Ain't Me Babe" and "Jackson." Witherspoon performs solo renditions of "Wildwood Flower" and "Juke Box Blues."

Among the other contributors are Shooter Jennings (who plays his late father Waylon in the film), Johnathan Rice (who plays Roy Orbison), Waylon Payne (who plays Jerry Lee Lewis) and Tyler Hilton (who plays Elvis Presley).

"Walk the Line" opens Nov. 18 in U.S. theaters.

That's pretty cool. I can't think of two better people to play June & Johnny than Joaquin and Reese. They will be fabulous.

I'm a little iffy on Reese as June but we'll see once the movie opens. Not exactly the same thing but I initially didn't buy Micheal Keaton as Batman either but now he's seems perfect for the role. I haven't seen Christian Bale in Batman Returns yet but from all reports he did justice to the role.

Although Reese has made a significant number of romantic comedies that did well at the box office, she's a great actress whose done films that didn't get a lot of recognition because they weren't as commercial... she played the roles more for the experience.

And yes, Christian Bale is perfect as Batman. (this coming from a huge fan of the original and Michael Keaton)

I worked for the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (home of the Tennessee Fil and Music Commission) while this movie was in production and heard a couple of things about it.

1. Best script that anyone in the Film Comission had ever seen.

2. Joaquin Phoenix was a bit of a pain to work with. He went the method acting route, and only responded to "Johnny" or one of a few nicknames that Johnny Cash acquired during his life.

It looks like it should be good. I wasn't sure about Phoenix, but everyone I know who was on set said he made a very convincing Johnny.

There's also a musical, Ring of Fire: The Johnny Cash Musical Show, coming to Broadway next year.

Remember also that Reese is a Tennessee girl (although a Nashvillian who went to Harpeth Hall is a far cry from a country girl). I hear she's great, but we'll just have to wait and see.
Oh, and unless they've changed the titile, there's no "I" in it, it's just Walk the Line.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Joaquin Phoenix had his work cut out for him before playing the late Johnny Cash on screen in "Walk the Line."

Phoenix, who had no musical background, "was pretty horrible when he started," said Dan John Miller, leader of the indie band Blanche, who plays Cash's lead guitarist.

The actor spent months rehearsing by himself. He even wrote his own songs to "see what it felt like to make something from nothing," Phoenix told Time magazine.

"He came around the corner for this concert scene and he just had the swagger and confidence," Miller told Time. "He was Johnny Cash - badass. For an amateur like me, it was suddenly clear what real acting is."

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I Cannont Wait to See This Movie!!!!
