Singer/songwriter Jackson Browne is prepping a disc of acoustic performances from his recent tours for release on his own label, Inside Recordings. Founded in 1999 by the artist with managers Donald "Buddha" Miller and Cree Clover Miller, Inside has linked with the Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA) for the Oct. 11 release of "Jackson Browne -- Solo Acoustic, Volume 1," its first under the agreement.

Compiled by Browne with engineer Paul Dieter, "Solo Acoustic" is the artist's first album of live material since 1977's "Running on Empty," which peaked at No. 3 on The Billboard 200. In addition to well-known songs such as "Take It Easy" and "The Pretender," the set includes the first official release of 30-plus-years-old "The Birds of St. Marks," which has appeared on various bootlegs.

A rendition of "Lives in the Balance," the title track of Browne's 1986 studio album, will be the first radio single released from "Solo Acoustic."

Among Inside's past releases are several albums by the Joel Rafael Band (including April's "Woodyboye: Songs of Woody Guthrie (And Tales Worth Telling), Vol. 2") and a John Trudell's 1999 Browne-produced "Blue Indians."

Browne is also working on a new studio album, his first since splitting with longtime label Elektra, which will be among Inside Recordings' 2006 releases. It will be the follow-up to 2002's "The Naked Ride Home," which bowed at No. 36 on The Billboard 200.

As far as I know it's out. By the by, I saw a brief glimpse of her on VH1 last night doing some songs from it and had to do a double take, she's changed a lot in ten years. If interested, you can see some clips from her performance here:

Saw Jackson Browne on his first Solo Acoustic tour in 2002 and he was fantastic. It was right before the Naked Ride Home came out and he just walked out on stage while the lights were still on and ask "Is everyone ready?" and off he went for the next 3 and a half hours. Had no set list so he just played pretty much whatever anyone yelled out. A live album will be well received.
