Brad Paisley's new album full of guest stars
From CMT.com
Brad Paisley has written or co-written 10 of the 16 songs on his fourth Arista album, Time Well Wasted, set for release on Aug. 16. The project includes two duets, including a collaboration with Alan Jackson on "Out in the Parkin' Lot," written by Guy Clark and Darrell Scott. Dolly Parton and Paisley also teamed up for "When I Get Where I'm Going" on the album that also features guest appearances by Bill Anderson, Little Jimmy Dickens, George Jones and Elvis Presley's former guitarist, James Burton.

Thanks Ilph! I had heard about Dolly but not AJ or the others. You can always kind of assume that Little Jimmy Dickens will be on any and all of Brad's albums. I hope that CMT puts the album on it's listening party, where you can listen to it a couple of weeks before it goes on sale
I have been checking out the new Dwight Yoakam album over there. Not sure if you like Dwight, but it sounds pretty good.

Jerry Jeff topped the original Boats To Build imo. I think Jimmy's version is a little bit too fast paced although I do like it.Jahfin wrote:"Out In the Parking Lot" is a great song but just as the case was with Jackson's duet with Buffett on "Boats To Build", I doubt very seriously they'll ever be able to top the original by Guy Clark.
I don't think I've ever heard Guy Clark's "Out in the parking lot"
I'll have to give it a listen

I think Jerry Jeff puts a nice spin on his Guy Clark covers, especially "L.A. Freeway" but I still prefer Guy's originals.sonofabeach wrote:Jerry Jeff topped the original Boats To Build imo. I think Jimmy's version is a little bit too fast paced although I do like it.
Cool. I think you'll like it, it can be found on his live album Keepers which features some outstanding picking and singing and a very cool bass solo from his son Travis on "Texas Cookin'". I'll have to listen again but I think he starts going into Hendrix' "Third Stone From the Sun".sonofabeach wrote:I don't think I've ever heard Guy Clark's "Out in the parking lot" I'll have to give it a listen

I remember him playing that song last summer when I saw him up in Cheyenne. ROTFLMAO funnyIlph wrote:A friend of mine saw Paisley over the weekend and said one of his new songs is a great and tender ballad about putting the toilet seat down.
The new album can be heard on CMT's listening party now. I'm listening to it now so I'll get back to you with my review later on.

Finally got to listen to both Guy's and Brad/Alan' versions of "Out in The Parking Lot" and while I like them both I think I like Brad's better.
But then the Guy Clark version I heard was live and a little slower.
Great song!!!! Here's link to the Listening Party

You're right...Guy Clark on "Boats to Build" is still the best...and I have heard JJW, and of course Jimmy...I loved that song the first time I heard it...years ago.....Jahfin wrote:"Out In the Parking Lot" is a great song but just as the case was with Jackson's duet with Buffett on "Boats To Build", I doubt very seriously they'll ever be able to top the original by Guy Clark.

MUSIC REVIEW | BRAD PAISLEY
West Virginia native shines in a rockin’ return to fair
By Gary Budzak THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Last night, Brad Paisley made his second visit to the Ohio State Fair. This time, it was as a performer.
The country singer told a nearly full Celeste Center that he came to the fair to see his first concert, singer Mac Davis, when he was 5 years old. Twenty-odd years later, Paisley, who was born in Glen Dale, W.Va., put on a well-rounded concert that played to his strengths.
Emerging to The Wild Wild West television theme song, Paisley and his six-piece band (which he said was all from Ohio), tore into Wrapped Around and Me Neither. The first thing you notice about Paisley is that while he looks like a cowboy in his white hat, he’s also playing his electric guitar with a purpose. Unlike some country stars who use a guitar as a prop, Paisley has played since he was 8, and he’s good.
In addition, Paisley knows how to write a song, whether it’s the "romantic’’ ribtickler Put the Toilet Seat Down or the touching stepfather tribute He Didn’t Have To Be. He sang some of his best last night: We Danced, I’m Gonna Miss Her, Mud on the Tires and That’s Love (described by Paisley as "the Dr. Phil portion of the show’’), along with his current hit, Alcohol.
A couplet in Alcohol — "And I’ll bet you a drink or two that I can make you / Put that lampshade on your head’’ inspired some in the audience to bring their own lampshades and sing along.
The show had a few minor flaws: First, Paisley’s voice could have been mixed louder. Second, he could have performed a couple more songs, especially when Easy Money, one of the songs from his forthcoming CD Time Well Wasted, speaks of him working just "two hours a night.’’ By my watch, it was only 78 minutes. Finally, from my seat, drummer Ben Sesar’s clear acrylic drum kit produced such a glare that sunglasses were needed.
However, the good more than outweighed the bad, and Paisley’s effective use of video, fine showmanship, choice of cover songs (Old Rugged Cross and Walk of Life) and even his Paisley-patterned guitars, lead one to think he’ll be headlining many more fair concerts.

if fans buy Brad Paisley's Time Well Wasted CD at Wal-Mart, that version comes with a bonus DVD of videos and behind the scenes stuff. Head to Target, and that version will contain four bonus tracks. Pick it up at Best Buy and it comes with a DVD of live concert material.
"It's crazy and it's different, but it's really bein' free"
I remember hearing Out In The Parking Lot for the first time. I was sitting on the floor at Carrolton Station in New Orleans hearing Guy and Verlon for the very first time! I will never forget the line "Oooops....there's a couple.. could not wait to get home, they're probably in love, so let's leave them alone...out in the parking lot."
"There's a couple of cowboys, puttting up their dukes; there wasn't much to it when both of them puked."
What a rhymer!!!
Brad does a great job with a great song. Thanks for sharing that link!!!
