Umm, OK, BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was way more cold than a tit nipply, I mean a bit nippy.

There are big wavey thingies. Much bigger than in Mexico. The water is dark and sandy. I got sand in spots today that I didn't know sand could go. Sand. Lots of sand.

Kind of an overcast day, just outside of San Diego in Encinitas. We went to Moonlight beach, a great place for the kids. Made a huge sand "pit" and the girls buried hubby up to his neck. Did the boogie board thing. That was fun. Watched Victoria eat her first through fifth mouthfulls of saltwater and one near-puke incident.

Anyway, just thought I'd share (aren't I lucky that BILs house guest room also doubles as the 'puter room). Next few days we'll be in Anaheim hugging a 6' rat! Hope to give you an update about the happiest place on earth then.

Glad you made it safely!! :D

Yup, the water is cold...and just think...it's considered warm at this time of year. And wave size varies...usually they aren't too big but I've been in Newport when they've been 8 feet plus. :o

As for sand...ooohhh yeah....you'll be finding sand in every nook and cranny you have. :o  Oh what a feeling.

Unfortunately this isn't the best time of the year to be on the coast, lots of overcast days. But it's still a pretty awesome place to be.

Have tons of fun at Disney. Drive safely, you know we're all kooks out here!

I grew up a block from Ocean Beach in San Francisco; sharks, undertow, COLD and dirty. I remember as a kid swimming with a friend at Ocean Beach after a rain storm. He found a wierd "warm spot" about ten feet offshore... When we got back to shore we found raw sewage pouring out of a pipe, across the beach and into the surf!

Years later on my first visit to Florida I was checking into a Gulf Coast hotel and the clerk seeing we were from California remarked "Gee why are you coming all the way out here? You all have such great beaches in California!"

I told her she watches too much Bay Watch

What's Cali without a sewage spill or 20? :-?

All our oceans are so dang polluted now...I'd be hard pressed to go swimming in them anymore. Oh to be young and have no fear...

until you almost drown while boogie boarding :-?

Gotta admit, I haven't put a toe in the Pacific in over 5 years.
Not that it's a pollution thing.... that's overblown.

Nowadays, I just prefer a great table with a choice view of the Pacific 8) :P

I beg to differ, LB...the pollution thing is NOT overblown. When dead whales have to be treated as toxic waste because of the amount of pollutants in their bodies, then there is definitely a problem.

Then there is my friend's daughter who died from Echoli bacteria she got from swimming in the ocean.

Then the death of sealife that is not related to red tides and similar.

It's a problem.

Have fun at Disneyland. I work here (yes, I'm here already), so be sure to stop by and say hello. Of course, I'm in an office so you won't see me, but say hello anyway.

Should be a nice day, be sure to use the fast passes wisely, and the fireworks are a MUST see!!!

I must say I am partial to the Gulf and Atlantic, but a cruise down the Pacific Coast Highway is definitely something beautiful.

Have never been to the Pacific south of the mouth of the Columbia. It is pretty awesome there tho, looking out at the bar and realizing what role it played in history.

Moonlight Beach again today. It's just the perfect beach for taking the kids. Matt got buried up to his neck in sand while I took a nap. I guess that's what happens when mommy isn't looking.

It didn't seem that the water or beach was dirty or icky or anything and the kids had a good time on the boogie boards. I definitely prefer the warm water down in Mexico, but it's still a joy to see the kids splashing around and chasing the tides; a whole different kind of expereince.

Still haven't seen the sunset over the water yet and we're hoping to do that tonight.

I miss you guys too! I'm definitely worn out from the two days at Disney so it was nice to not do much today. Hubby is at the store with BIL getting me some Bacardi and we're gonna do even more nothing this evening.
