Am I Country, Pop, or Rock 'n Roll?

Post by Tony5150RN »

Just got an iPod and I've been very busy adding all my Jimmy CD's to iTunes. After seeing the different tracklists, made by various users, this line from "Simply Complicated" has way more meaning. Some classified Bubba's music as country, some called it pop, but the majority classified it as rock. After a debate with the other half last evening, I've come to the conclusion that Unclassifiable would be the most appropriate category. Jimmy is so talented that he spans all of the above and more!

What is it he says on You Had To Be There, "Caribbean Drunk Rock n' Roll Music"? I kinda always liked that one.

Referred to it as Gulf/Western during the Tiki Time Tour

Also heard it called Tropical Rock in some article or another.

I edited all to "Buffett" instead of any of the other genres. :pirate:

I've always liked that description too but it goes back a lot further than the Tiki Time Tour. I first saw it mentioned in the liner notes to Riddles In The Sand. You know, the other album where he made a stab at some country airplay.

How about good ol' Conchy Tonk :D ! Wasn't that what we kept hearing the title of LTC was going to be before it ended up as LTC?

I think it is classified as rock.
Sunset Beach is my Margaritaville. Where there is endless beach, no time, and sunshine that seems to last forever. I know that Someday I Will.....Someday.

That may be how his albums are filed in record stores but when it comes right down to it, "unclassifiable" is more like it.

I think Parrothaead, Island or Beach would all be acceptable.
