Saw Nanci Griffith The Other Night

Saw Nanci Friday Night at a Folk Festival in Wolfeboro NH. Interesting place to see a concert, very intimate and down to earth right on Lake Winnipesaukee. Less than a thousand people. Thought we were going to get short changed because she didn't take the stage until almost 10:30 but she played 14 or 15 songs and it was right at midnight when she came out for an encore. She was very laid back and talkative and played with a lot of emotion. She mentioned that her record company is going to release the song I LOVE THIS TOWN as a single in the fall and she told a story about when her guitar player, who wrote the song, played it for her the first thing she thought of was that it sounded like a Jimmy Buffett song so she called Jimmy up and ask him to she with her.

Other Artist that night were: David Jacobs-Strain, Christine Lavin, April Verch, Harry Manx, and Richard Shindell. This is a 3 day festival that they have every summer and I would highly recommend going to it next summer if you live in New England. Here is the link: http://www.greatwaters.org The tent looks a lot bigger than it actually is.

Sounds like a wonderful setlist.

I have only seen Nanci once, but I also have all of her albums plus her videos. It makes me feel like I have seen her many times.

She did a great show at the Paramount in Austin when I saw her. I do hope to see her again one day. I can always picture her with John Prine with her wings when I hear the Speed of the Sound of Loneliness.

"You come home late and you come home early...sometimes you don't come home at all."

Isn't Gulf Coast Highway with Mac just the BEST!!
And, I didn't realize Mac is also on her new one on the song Rise To The Occasion.
