What music is your neighbor listening to?
Since it seems several of us have loud singing/playing neighbors. Tonight at the beach house it was for a long time Billy Joel, then it was Fleetwood Mac, even Tusk, yech. Now it's that song Burning down the House, don't remember who sings it.

Woody Guthrie's great. In sort of a unique twist, Wilco and Billy Bragg (and some special guests, including Natalie Merchant and Corey Harris) set some of his unused lyrics to music a few years ago on the Mermaid Avenue I & II collections. They're well worth seeking out, along with Woody's original recordings.

We have neighbors behind us who use to crank up a mix of Spanish music and Queen to serious loud volumes. It was pretty much on a spanish/queen/spanish/queen/spanish etc. basis... And it was so loud you could hear it in the house with all doors and windows shut. To hear the overplayed Macarina followed by the even more overplayed We Will Rock You drove me nuts...

The houses in our neighborhood are very decently spaced apart with lots of trees and hedges as baffles anyway . . . our neighbours are mostly older as well, so if I hear anything on their outdoor speakers it is likely to be jazz, standards or light classical. The son of our neighbours to the south is in his late 20s and when he comes for a weekend in the summer, he always washes his car in their driveway with some kind of rap stuff cranked. It makes us laugh our heads off when his mother STILL has to come out and yell at him to turn it down or off like she did when he was 17!!!

sounds like my neighborhood...sonofabeach wrote:I'm happy that I'm surrounded by old farts who pretty much don't make noise.
Every now and then some punk will drive by blasting the new song from MC Bitchkilla and DJ Slappahoe but that's about it.
and that's the way I like it...
