I spoke to one of the Coral Reefers on the phone not too long ago (I won't say which one it was), and this person told me how much he/she made during the previous summer's tour, and it was MUCH LESS than I ever would have expected. Of course, that summer J.B. also scaled back considerably on the number of shows he did.

now please don't have me banned for getting back on topic, okay?

NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

CORAL REEFER SALARY?

Post by Punkin »

I'd like to know what they make, too. What's the big deal? On the tv interview they said Jimmy makes $38M a year. He is a perfect example of someone who becomes MORE handsome as they age :)

I think natural curiosity is why people want to know. Since salaries are regularly published these days. I am not sure why that this topic continues to rile up some people. Of course, there are several topics that seem to rile up people here that still keep me confused and mostly away from here.
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

I guess I don't see why its such a big deal. If I never knew what they made I wouldn't care. But it obviously peaked my interest since I (and the rest of us) clicked on this discussion link to read about it. If you weren;t interested in knowing, why click on this link? I don't understand why some people think they need to dictate what should and should not be asked on here. It makes people hesitant to post. Its not like rest of the discussion was filled with much useful info either, pertaining mostly to cheese. I guess I just can see how someone who is a fan of JB and the CRB would want to know such a thing. Since almost every other question has been asked on here its only natural that such a topic would come up. Bottom line- unless you are one of the moderators, don't tell people what they should write about.

Punkin, you hear what Jimmy makes because he agrees to let it be published. Other than government workers, if we know anybody's salary, it's because they agreed to share it with us. If you don't knonw it, then maybe they don't want it public, and that's okay.

Mike, if what you say is true, just call me Bill Gates! :P

I'm sure it must have occurred to someone besides me that beyond the privacy issues, the Coral Reefers' employer, Mr. Buffett, might just take a dim view of any of them telling people how much he pays them (much as many of our employers would object to us sharing that information with others)......
