TIM KREKEL

Saw Tim last week and the man puts on a heck of a show.

For those not familiar with Tim, he had a cup of coffee as a Reefer in the late 80's and is on SOASOAS and You Had To Be There and had a semi sucessful band in the mid to late 80's called the Sluggers who recorded an album with Mark Germino called Radartown that is a classic.

Now a days Tim is home based in the Louisville area but he has family here in Maine and every summer he comes up for a couple of weeks and does 4 or 5 show around the state. Most of the songs he played were from his CD Happy Town and his new one called World Keeps Turnin'. I picked up World Keeps Turnin' at the show and it's very good, not as rock and roll as Happy Town, more of a cross between Mac McAnally & John Hiatt.

Here is his web site if you are interested:

Nice. I think I have all of Tim's albums, but not sure. I really enjoyed Perfect World the most.

I think I only have an album or two of his. Too bad so many Buffett fans seem to be totally unfamiliar with Tim or the previous incarnations of the Coral Reefer Band as there's a whole lot of talent there. Tim's son Jason is an a band called Mad Tea Party that I think a lot of Buffett fans would like.
